Harmanpreet Kaur (India Women Captain): "Absolutely. Very proud. I don't have words to express what we are feeling. We have passed that line that we are trying hard for the last few years.
We spoke to each other. We have done this. Because we have been working so hard and both of us are really proud of this team. Every player can win any match in any situation. We did make some mistakes in the tournament but today was the day we wanted to go all the way. Just be there for the team and I think it worked for the team.
That day, we had realized that we didn't execute very well. We were late by two or three overs. We could have taken a few risks earlier and it cost us. We discussed it in the team room. If we fall behind, it's hard to come back. Last five overs, you have to be very particular and very calculative. We knew what we had to do if the same situation comes and that's what happened.
(On Jemimah Rodrigues) Jemimah is someone who always wants to do well for the team. We have trust on her. Today, it was a very special knock from her. We had a good time while batting in the middle. She was doing the calculation for me. I really enjoy batting with her. She is someone before I go, she keeps telling me, we have got five runs, we have got seven runs. That shows how involved she is. She was pushing me and we have to give a lot of credit to her for holding the nerves and finishing the game.
One more game to go. Today, we all played well. We are happy with the result. We are already speaking about the next game. That shows how focused we are. We want to give back to our fans and the families. It's a great time for us to deliver for our fans and families and we will try our best.
They (fans) are always with us. Every game they are coming and pushing us. They have been amazing. Even when we lost, we kept receiving messages that the World Cup is not done yet. You can bounce back. We are not alone and the whole country is behind us."
Alyssa Healy (Australia Women Captain): "Yeah, I mean, it was a good contest in the end. We are probably reflecting to our mistakes a little bit. It was the first time I have felt that.
We probably didn't finish well with the bat, didn't bowl well and also dropped all that chances in the field but we still managed to hang in there till the second last over. So, we can take something out of that but ultimately we got outdone at the end.
(On posting 338) I thought we left a few more runs out there with the bat in the backend. We should've batted better in the last 10 overs but I have been saying that to the girls that we managed to get a good score but we should've executed better with the ball. We didn't hold on to our chances otherwise we were right in the game. It is what it is. India played really well as they held their nerves and ultimately got over the line.
(On Phoebe Litchfield's innings) Oh yes. When you see players of my age walk away from the game, it's always a weird experience. We are watching the next generation that it forward. We saw that with India as well with bat in hand. I though Phoebs was sensational with the bat in the frontend and was able to cash in with a hundred. Kudos to her. It's been fun to watch her unfold and in the next world cup which is after 4 years, she will be exciting to watch.
I think there will be more and more opportunities for those guys moving forward. You could see a little bit of change in the future and I think that's going to be really exciting for our group. I though Ash (Gardner) had a sensational tournament and I think, everyone contributed beautifully throughout the tournament.
Um, yeah, I was a bit stressed. We created enough, we created pressure, we created opportunities and I am at fault in that. We can't let ourselves down in that regard because that's something we Australians are really proud of ourselves. That's probably why it's a bit disappointing. I felt the same last year too.
(On the entire team) I think we have played some unbelievable cricket. In these semi-finals and knockout games, if you don't turn up in that evening, anyone will get the better of you. I am really proud of our group. Everyone chipped in every game and did the job for our side. We were just unable to get over the line at the end.
I won't be there Mel (for World Cup 2029). Well, I think that's the beauty of the next cycle. We will find out in the next few years. There is a T20 World Cup next year which we are looking forward to. Our ODI team will shift a little bit I guess. We will learn from our mistakes and there are some really exciting opportunities for the youngsters going forward."
