A nail-biting finish in Guyana as Barbados Royals Women kept their cool to defend the total and clinch a 3-run victory. With this, the Royals extend their unbeaten streak this season, holding on to a perfect 100% win record. The head-to-head now reads 8-0 in favour of the Royals over the Warriors.

Chinelle Henry (Barbados Royals Women Captain):"We knew how the wicket was playing. We made a few errors, have a couple of things we need to correct before the final. She is a specialist in that, done it for the West Indies and she succeeded here. Best outing for the team. We ended up scoring 132. If we could reduce the dot balls, we could score more and provide a bigger margin of error for the bowlers."
Shemaine Campbelle (Guyana Amazon Warriors Women Captain): "We didn't play many of our main players for this game. We got a lot of confidence from this game.
Yeah, we didn't play some of our key players but we managed to put on a really good performance today.
Laura was magnificent with the ball in hand. We know that Amy is a talented player. She did her job really well. I enjoyed batting in the middle with her.
Well, we know that it's just a dress rehearsal ahead of the Final. We just want to rest and be ready for the Final."
Chamari Athapaththu (Player of the Match):"Actually a good game. Like an unofficial final before the actual fine. Hope we continue this. I worked hard in Sri Lanka because the World Cup is coming up. I played my natural game. Keep it simple and attack the stumps. She has been doing very well as a captain. We executed our plans and helped her. She is one of the good captains in world cricket and I hope she continues this performance in the final too."
Player of the Match: Chamari Athapaththu
2:44 AM IST & 5:14 PM Local Time: What a finish we’ve had in Guyana — a nail-biting final-ball thriller! The Guyana Amazon Warriors Women remain winless against the Barbados Royals Women in the Women’s CPL, faltering once again at the death. They choked under pressure in the closing overs and went down by just 3 runs.
Earlier in the day, Guyana Amazon Warriors Women won the toss and chose to bowl first under the scorching Guyana sun. Qiana Joseph showed early intent with a couple of crisp boundaries but fell cheaply in the 3rd over to Fraser. The experienced Sri Lankan, Chamari Athapaththu, took charge with some delightful stroke play, doing the bulk of the scoring in the Powerplay. Georgia Redmayne, meanwhile, managed a run-a-ball 10 before a lapse in concentration saw her stumped while casually wandering out of her crease.
Guyana clawed their way back strongly in the middle overs, striking at regular intervals to put the brakes on the Royals. The big wicket came when Chamari Athapaththu departed for 37 off 42, halting the early momentum. Skipper Chinelle Henry then took charge, playing a fiery unbeaten knock of 46 from 34 balls to push her side past the 130-run mark. Barbados Royals closed their innings at 132/6 in 20 overs, with Laura Harris shining for the Warriors as the pick of the bowlers with figures of 3/26.
In reply, Guyana’s chase began on a shaky note with Realeanna Grimmond falling cheaply to Chamari Athapaththu in the 3rd over. Amy Hunter then joined forces with Shemaine Campbelle, and the duo steadied the innings with a crucial stand that swung momentum back in Guyana’s favour. Their 73-run partnership kept the chase on track until Athapaththu struck again, removing Campbelle for a well-made 40 off 40 balls.
The chase revolved entirely around Amy Hunter, who held the innings together with a superb knock under pressure. Unfortunately for Guyana, support from the other end was missing as the required rate kept climbing. Laura Harris briefly lifted hopes with two boundaries but fell for 8 off 4, leaving Hunter to carry the fight. In fact, only two Guyana batters managed to reach double figures in the innings.
The game went right down to the wire, with Hunter dismissed in the final over for a brilliant 63 off 50 balls. With 8 needed from the last 2 balls, Ashmini Munisar cracked a boundary to keep the contest alive, but Aaliyah Alleyne held her nerve to seal the deal. Barbados Royals Women triumphed by 3 runs, extending their dominance over the Guyana Amazon Warriors Women and maintaining their perfect record this season.
