Chinelle Henry (Barbados Royals Captain): "Once we got into the middle, the conditions were different. The bowlers executed the plans. (About Qiana Joseph opening) At the West Indies level, we know that she can do it and we have the same in the locker for the Royals. We have also seen what Chamari (Athapaththu) has done for her teams around the world. Kycia coming in tonight and putting that performance in her first game as a Royal. In the middle, we lost four quick wickets. Kycia got us out of trouble and that was really nice to see."
Deandra Dottin (Trinbago Knight Riders Women Captain): "(On Zaida James' injury) She’s doing pretty well. It’s just a slight tweak to the ankle, but she’s a strong player and I believe she’ll recover quickly. I think we just need to look back at where we went wrong and work on that batting area. It’s a short tournament, but by the grace of God, we managed to turn things around and we’re making a strong comeback."
Chamari Athapaththu (POTM): "Qiana Joseph batted really well, and I’m very happy for her. It’s always easy to bat alongside her, and I truly enjoyed our partnership. Chasing 138 for victory, TKR got off to a poor start with Shamilia Connell bowling a maiden from Sheneta Grimmond removed the duo of Shawnisha Hector and Jahzara Claxton for ducks in the second over. The Powerplay continued to get worse for TKR with Chamari Athapaththu getting rid of Jess Jonassen and Shabika Gajnabi in the 6th over.
TKR received the biggest blow in the 7th over when Deandra Dottin struck the ball straight to Qiana Joseph off Shreyanka Patil's bowling. Then, the pair of Lizelle Lee and Shikha Pandey stitched a decent partnership. Just as TKR started to give a glimmer of hope to themselves, Chamari came back into the attack and dismissed Shikha and Jannillea Glasgow off consecutive balls in the 12th over.
Lower-order batter Salonee Dangore hung around for a while before she was trapped by a googly from Afy Fletcher. Thereafter, Shamilia Connell castled Samara Ramnath in the 16th over to bowl TKR out for 78. Chamari was the star of the show with her remarkable 4/7 which are the best figures in WCPL history.
