That’s all from this rain-washed contest, folks! This is Deepak Prakash signing off on behalf of scorer and analyst Bishal Mandal. Cheers!
6:06 PM IST, Local Time: The rain has had the last laugh in this contest, and the match has been abandoned. The Trans Titans were in a good position in the game, but unfortunately for them, both teams shared a point each. Here is a recap of what transpired in the game before the rain arrived at the venue. 👇 After opting to bat first, the Trans Titans lost Jesse Ryder cheaply for just 7 runs, but Pratik Athavale wasted no time and came out all guns blazing. Alongside Rishi Dhawan, Athavale kept the scoreboard ticking at a brisk pace as the duo stitched together a crucial 100-plus run stand for the second wicket. The African Lions were left ruing their missed opportunities, dropping a couple of sitters off Athavale, who made them pay dearly with a blistering 68 off just 33 deliveries. Rishi also notched up his fifty but failed to bat till the end and departed for 51 runs in the 14th over. The Titans were 176/3 in 16.1 overs when a strong gust of wind halted play, forcing the umpires to take the players off the field. It was followed by heavy and persistent rain, which had the last laugh in this game.
6:05 PM IST, Local Time: The match has been called off due to persistent rain!
5:52 PM IST, Local Time: Our scorer and analyst, Bishal Mandal, reporting from the venue, has shared a video - and the scenes are far from promising, folks! It’s raining heavily at the Greater Noida Sports Complex Ground, and the inevitable seems to be on the cards.
5:03 PM IST, Local Time: The strong gust of wind is now blowing fiercely across the ground. Even the cameramen are struggling to manage their equipment, and as a safety precaution, the players have been asked to walk off the field. The covers are coming on now! It has started raining as well. The groundsmen are having a tough time getting the covers on in these blustery winds, and to make matters worse, it's turned quite dark at the venue.
