2:02 am IST, 9:32pm Local Time: We hope you enjoyed our coverage of this T20 blast game between Durham and Northamptonshire. So it's goodbye until next time from me, Sourya Chowdhury and my fellow commentator Gourav Samal. Our scorer tonight was Ghanendra Singh Thakur. Good night!
With the win, Durham move to second place in the points table and will play their quarter final match on home turf.
1:52am IST, 9:22pm Local Time: Durham have ensured a home quarterfinal with aplomb in this crucial North Group T20 Blast, 2025 game after decimating fellow high-flyers Northamptonshire by at the Riverside ground by nine wickets. Chasing 204, the home team’s openers were in prime form and began in astounding fashion. Both captain Alex Lees and Graham Clark began in punishing fashion, driving, cutting and lofting the hapless Northants bowlers at ease. They made 78 in the first six overs and reached 100 in the eighth over.

However, neither slowed down and the carnage intensified even as the field spread. Both batters kept on taking the bowlers on with some astounding and fearless power hitting. The massive opening partnership of 181, one of the highest in the history of English domestic T20 cricket, ended when Clark finally got out to Ravi Bopara. But by then the job was well and truly done.

Earlier, Northamptonshire won the toss and decided to bat first and put up 203/5 on the board.

The pitch was a belter with the ball coming on and the ace Northants batters used it to fine effect. Matthew Breetzke (52 off 35) utilized the powerplay field restrictions well to reach an explosive fifty. Experienced campaigners Ravi Bopara (33 off 24) and David Willey (63 off 32) joined forces to put up a great partnership.

At one stage, the visitors looked set to cross 220, but Matthew Potts (3/44) picked up both danger men in one over to help pull things back. Callum Parkinson and Nathan Sowter also got two wickets. The chase is well set up. We will be back soon.

1 Length on leg, Lees flicks it towards square leg region with soft hands for a single and helps his team win the match. This has been a stupendous display of batting by the Durham batters to clinch a win in the match.
