That marks the end of our coverage from the 121st T20 of the T20 Blast 2025 between Somerset and Gloucestershire. Somerset have won the match by 16 runs and finished the group stage with 44 points beside their name and have confirmed their quarter final match in their home ground.

For now, this is Saptak Sanyal signing off on behalf of the scorer/analyst of this game Raju Khariya. Good night.
Gloucestershire's left arm spinner Tom Smith has concluded his cricket career with this match. He started his professional career for Hampshire in 2006 before moving to Gloucestershire in 2013. He finished his career with 82 wickets in First Class, 103 wickets in List A and 193 wickets in T20 format.
Ben Green (Player of the Match): "I think we prepared well for the pitch. But there was a lot of scope to adopt. We adopted as per the pace of the wicket. The slowness of the pitch made the scoring zones a bit different. At one point, I was thinking that I will go run-a-ball but glad to play the shots.

Yes, we are playing as a team for quite a few years now. The caught and bowled is a result of the practice. The crowd support was great."

1:47 AM IST and 9:17 PM Local Time | Somerset have defeated the Gloucestershire by 16 runs to conclude the group stage and have booked a position in the top two spots of the points table. With this win, they will play the quarter-final in their home ground.

Coming to bat first, Somerset batters got the starts but failed to convert them to big scores. Will Smeed hit a few boundaries against Shaw but got out in the next over for 29. Gloucestershire spinners controlled the middle overs and cramped the batters from scoring the boundaries. Their lines and exploitation of the slowness of the pitch stopped the batters to go for their shots. Tom Kohler-Cadmore (21), James Rew (19) and Sean Dickson (14) got out cheaply.

But Somerset added 33 runs in the last couple of overs. Experienced death bowler David Payne conceded 22 runs in his final over and that helped Somerset to reach 164. Ben Green played a fantastic cameo of 36 off 22 balls. Green decorated his innings with three maximums and out of those, he hit two off David Payne. Craig Overton remained unbeaten on 13 off 9 balls.

For Gloucestershire, their skipper Jack Taylor finished with 3/19 from his 4 overs. Matt Taylor celebrated 2 wickets. Tom Smith, who is playing his final professional cricket match, finished with 1/29.

Coming to chase the 165-run target, Gloucestershire batter Miles Hammond gave the first over a maiden to Craig Overton. But he got off the mark with a six in the next over and D'Arcy Short also joined him. The run rate escalated in the next 10 balls after the first over. But Jake Ball removed Miles Hammond for 15 and an exceptional catch from Somerset skipper Gregory sent the debutant Boorman back for just 6.

D'Arcy Short gave a good fight but he lost partners at the other end in a regular interval. Ben Charlesworth put up a small partnership with him but when he got out for 16, a misunderstanding between the batters cost Jack Taylor his wicket.

Oliver Price and Short then added 36 runs for the 5th wicket before Price got out for 18. After that, D'Arcy Short and Gloucestershire fought but the Somerset bowlers were too good for them. Short eventually reached his fifty and swung his bat to remain unbeaten on 71 off 52 balls with 5 fours and 3 sixes. But his team Gloucestershire remained short of 16 runs from the target and fell flat in the run chase.

Jake Ball took 2 wickets for 20 runs for Somerset. Craig Overton, Lewis Gregory, Ben Green, Jack Leach and Will Smeed chipped in with a wicket each.

4 FOURRR! D'Arcy Short reduces the margin of defeat with back to back boundary shots to finish the game. A short of length ball at the middle stump. Short swings his bat for a pull shot but gets a top edge that lands short of the long leg fence and goes for a boundary. Somerset have won the match by 16 runs.
