Earlier, Surrey won the toss and opted to bat first. Ryan Patel and Will Jacks came out all guns blazing as the two openers made a solid 66-run opening stand before the former got out on the last ball of the powerplay.
Will Jacks continued his onslaught from the other end and brought up his fifty.
Surrey suffered a minor collapse in the middle from being 66-0 to 88-4 as Ryan Higgins and Luke Hollman bowled brilliantly.
Tom Curran and Dan Lawrence then stitched a solid 61 run partnership for the fifth wicket and got their side back into the game. Ryan Higgins was the pick of the bowlers for his side with the figures of 4 for 33 in his quota of 4 overs.
Surrey were cruising along on 149-4 in the 16th overs, they then lost back-to-back wickets in the death overs. Middlesex managed to restrict them to 189/9.
Chasing 190, Middlesex got off to a flier of a start courtesy to Stephen Eskinazi. However, no other batters contributed to the teamโs cause.
Max Holden and Ben Geddes fell cheaply inside the powerplay. Leus du Plooy chipped in with a quickfire cameo of 29 runs off 17 balls but he fell soon after too.
Stephen Eskinazi brought up his half century but fell soon after. Wickets kept falling at regular intervals. Luke Hollman and Ryan Higgins smashed some late lusty blows but the target was beyond their reach and in the end Surrey won the match by 8 runs.
