11:08 PM IST & 6:38 PM Local Time: That’s the end of the match! A dominant performance by Surrey as they thrash Somerset by 67 runs in a one-sided contest at home. They not only seal qualification for the quarter-finals but also ensure a home quarter-final with this emphatic win.
Somerset won the toss and chose to bowl, but Surrey got off to a flyer thanks to Will Jacks, who launched the second ball for six and shared a 62-run stand with Ryan Patel. Leach broke the partnership by removing Patel for 23 just after the powerplay.
Jacks carried on, adding 49 with Jason Roy before falling for a quickfire 57 to Goldsworthy. That sparked a wobble as Surrey lost wickets regularly, but Somerset couldn't fully capitalize due to some sloppy fielding. Late cameos from Lawrence (32 off 16), Curran (19 off 15), and Jordan (14 off 7) powered Surrey to a strong 201/6. Leach (2/42) and Goldsworthy (2/39) were the pick of the bowlers.
In reply, Somerset’s chase never really took off. They lost Tom Lammonby early, and although Will Smeed and Tom Kohler-Cadmore showed intent during the powerplay, it wasn’t enough to keep them in the hunt. Sam Curran struck right after the powerplay, removing Smeed for 19, before Adam Zampa landed the big blow by dismissing Kohler-Cadmore for 38 — a moment that tilted the match firmly in Surrey's favour.
Somerset’s middle and lower order failed to offer any resistance as the required rate kept mounting. Skipper Lewis Gregory tried to fight back with a quick 23 off 15, but the damage was already done. They were eventually bundled out for 134 in the final over. It was a clinical display from Surrey with the ball. Reece Topley leading the charge with exceptional figures of 3/20 as the hosts sealed a thumping win by 67 runs and underlining their knockout credentials in style.
W GONEEEE!! Goldsworthy holes out in the deep and that's the end of this game! Banged it short into the wicket around middle and leg. Goldsworthy mistimes the pull shot. Doesn't get enough elevation on that one. Overton at deep square leg, takes a simple catch. Surrey win by 67 runs!
19.2 C Jordan to L Goldsworthy
0 Banged it short into the wicket around fourth stump. Goldsworthy looks to ramp it over the keeper's head. Gets beaten.
