1:57 AM IST, 9:27 PM Local Time: After facing five consecutive defeats in this tournament, Northamptonshire have found a way and won a game. They have beaten Derbyshire in a run feast by 13 runs.
Chasing 238 runs was never an easy task, but the Falcons gave it their all. Aneurin Donald and Caleb Jewell were brilliant as openers as they shared 112 runs for the opening wicket. However, both of them were taken in a single over by Lloyd Pope.
After Pope's twin-wicket assault, Derbyshire lost the plot in the middle phase, but only till Wayne Madsen and Harry Came posed together. The duo shared 37 runs for the fifth wicket, before Came stitched another fine stand of 46 runs with his skipper, Samit Patel.
Needing 20 runs off the final over, Patel started off with a boundary, but Luke Procter came back by giving away a double off the next two deliveries and then getting the Derbyshire skipper. The game was over by then, but the pacer finished by ending with two dots.
Earlier in the evening, Matthew Breetzke (93), David Willey (53) and Saif Zaib (53* off 20 balls) had a ball in the first innings. As a result, the Northamptonshire Steelbacks posted their joint-highest total in the T20 Blast history - 237/4.
