That marks the end of our coverage of the 3rd T20 of the GSL 2025 between Dubai Capitals and Hobart Hurricanes. Hobart Hurricanes kickstarted their campaign with a big victory by7 wickets and with 3 overs remaining.

For now, this is Saptak Sanyal signing off on behalf of my co-commentator and our scorer/analyst Paras Yadav. Good night. Join us in about 4 hours time to follow the action of the second game of the day between Central Stags and Guyana Amazon Warriors.
Gulbadin Naib (Dubai Capitals Captain): "I can say that we played a few miscalculated shots and later conceded 48 runs from 4 overs. They have the experience to play in this kind of surfaces. They bowled well to me and Alleyne. Fabian Allen was good.

We got a good score in the bat. Hurricanes got a good start and we have to learn from that. We have to be better in the field. We dropped a catch. We have to do better.

Our next game is a night game. The conditions are absolutely different. Everybody knows their role in the field and they are professional cricketers. I hope we bounce back next game."
Ben McDermott (Hobart Hurricanes Captain and Player of the Match): "When you keep hitting Shakib right from the start, you know things are going to pay off. It is nice to see the local and new guys stepping up and perform brilliantly.

I think we ran well. We converted the twos and that was the key. It brought some energy in our batting innings. Nice to get the win. With the weather around, we knew it was always safe to chase the run. So we decided to bowl first. It is going to be a bowl first tournament."
Player of the Match: Ben McDermott
Macalister Wright (Hobart Hurricanes): "I am pretty alright now. We are over the moon to win the first game. It becomes easy when you have somebody like McDermott early in the innings. He batted well and that made a lot of things easy for me.

We came four days ago and started training indoors. Good to get the result. Some players came in last night and good to see that they have performed. My first time here in Guyana and the people are lovely here."
11:11 PM IST and 1:41 PM Local Time | The BBL 2025 champions have started their GSL journey in this edition with a thumping victory over the Dubai Capitals. They have won it by 7 wickets and with 18 balls to go. This is a huge boost to their NRR to start the season.

Today Hurricanes won the toss and sent the Capitals to bat first. Despite getting a start early in the innings by Sediqullah Atal, Capitals fell in trouble as the Hurricanes spinners were spot-on. Mohammad Nabi removed Atal, Niroshan Dickwella and Shakib Al Hasan and Fabian Allen removed Rohan Mustafa.

Gulbadin Naib led the side from 55/4 position and got the company from Jesse Bootan and Kadeem Alleyne and the skipper scored 31 runs from 27 balls with 2 fours and a maximum. He took the score to 141.

For the Hurricanes, Mohammad Nabi and Fabian Allen took 3 wickets and gave away exactly 21 runs from their 4 overs.

Coming to chase the run, Hobart Hurricanes batters took the full advantage of the powerplay. They took 38 runs from the first 3 overs hitting Shakib and Rohan Mustafa for fun. Mustafa got the better of Bhanuka Rajapaksa but the runs didn't stop. Ben McDermott took the scoreboard moving rapidly with Macalister Wright. They put up 78 runs from their 52 balls faced together and that partnership sealed the deal.

McDermott was looking good for a fifty but a drifter from Qais Ahmad hit the timber to send him back on 48. But Wright was stable at the other end. He slowly and steadily got to his fifty and scored exactly 50 off 47 balls with 5 boundaries. He looked to finish the game with a maximum but found Drakes at long-off off Aryaman Varma. Jake Doran and Nikhil Chaudhary finished the game off with three overs to go.
