Earlier, after opting to bowl first, iDream Tiruppur Tamizhans bowlers struck at regular intervals and never allowed any partnership to flourish. The Siechem Madurai Panthers collapsed like a pack of cards and were left reeling at 77/8 by the 17th over.
C Sarath Kumar, who watched wickets tumble from the other end, held firm and anchored the innings with a valuable 31 before falling to Silambarasan in the 18th over. Gurjapneet Singh (13) and S Rajalingam (22) — the number 10 and 11 batters — showed more grit than the top order, adding crucial runs at the tail. Rajalingam, in particular, came out swinging and smashed 22 off just 9 balls before being run out on the final delivery, lifting the Panthers to a somewhat respectable 120 in their 20 overs.
