So, that is it from myself, Karthik Raj as I wrap up the coverage of this fixture. A note of thanks to our scorer, Paras Yadav as well. Do stay tuned and follow our coverage of a lot more cricketing action on Monday.
Arun Karthik (Nellai Royal Kings Captain):"We had five days break and that helped us. We gave a big total to the Chepauk Super Gillies and the team wanted to come back strong after that. We have a lot of all-rounders like NS Harish and Nirmal Kumar and we thought we could play an extra spinner in these conditions.
(On Bhasker Rocky) He bowled superbly in the Powerplay. This is a young franchise. The young batters are accepting the responsibility and winning us games."
Sachin Rathi (Player of the Match):"I feel very well. I just tried to perform the role that the team wanted. I didn't have any plan. Just tried to keep it simple and bowl good areas. That worked for me."
Sachin Rathi has been named as the 'Player of the Match'.
Time for the Post-match Presentation!
S Abishiek (Salem Spartans Captain):"Batting, we could have applied ourselves. From the first ball, I tried to attack but couldn't do. I take the full responsibility for that. We just have to move on from this game. Maybe, one positive was M Mohammed's batting."
10:10 PM IST: A pretty one-sided match in the end as Nellai Royal Kings secure an eight-wicket victory with 38 balls to spare against the Salem Spartans who came into this match unbeaten. This result will give a massive NRR boost to the Nellai Royal Kings.
With the bowlers setting up the match, the Nellai Royal Kings' batters just had to bat sensibly to get across the line. However, Santhosh Kumar came out with full intent as if he wanted to finish the match as soon as possible. The attitude worked as well as Nellai got to 37/0 at the end of two overs. His opening partner, G Ajitesh couldn't fire though as he was trapped in front by Poiyamozhi in the 4th over.
Despite Ajitesh's dismissal, Santhosh continued to go ablaze as he registered an 18-ball fifty. Nellai also rounded off the Powerplay at 70/1 in the process. The scoring rate came down a touch after the Powerplay while Santhosh departed in the 11th over only after scoring 73 off 36 balls. In the end, Rithik Easwaran finished off the match in style as he struck a four and a six with Nellai wrapping up the proceedings with 38 balls to spare.
