Earlier in the game, Kovai Kings were sent in by Baba Aparajith. Suresh Lokeshwar and Sachin B fell in quick succession. Jitendra Kumar made 42 and then Andre Siddarth (26), Guru Raghavendran (25), Shahrukh Khan (20) all three got starts but failed to convert it into a big one.
Abhishek Tanwar picked up four wickets while Prem Kumar and Vijay Shankar both chipped in with a couple of wickets each. M Silambarasan also got a wicket to bowl out the Kings for 144.
In reply, K Aashiq and Mokit Hariharan added 62 runs for the first wicket. Aashiq scored 35 and Hariharan made 21.
Baba Aparajith and Vijay Shankar then finished the game with a 70-run unbeaten stand for the third wicket to finish the game. Aparajith remained unbeaten on 48 and Shankar was not out on 34.
