That marks the end of our coverage from the 3-match ODI series between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. The hosts led by Charith Asalanka has won the series by a margin of 2-1. Kusal Mendis has been the star of the series. He scored 225 runs from the 3 games and created a difference between the two sides. For his incredible showdown, he has got the award of the player of the series.

Now we will be back in two days time for the first T20I of the three match series at this very venue. Do join us for that. For now, this is Saptak Sanyal signing off on behalf of my co-commentator Deepak Prakash and our scorer/analyst Zeeshan Naiyer. Good night.
Charith Asalanka collects the trophy and goes to his teammates to pose for a photograph. Sanath Jayasuriya and the other members of the support staff team also join them. Celebrations galore for the hosts as they have won the 3-match series by 2-1.
Charith Asalanka (Sri Lanka Captain): "It was quite an important and interesting game for us, and I think all the guys stepped up and delivered at the right time. Yeah, at first I felt the pitch was slightly on the slower side, and I couldn’t rotate the strike easily.

Then I thought I’d take a calculated risk and try to hit a couple of boundaries to keep the runs flowing.

Yeah, quite disappointing with the last 10 overs. After the kind of start we had — 220 runs in 40 overs — we were looking at a total of around 300. But unfortunately, we couldn’t get those 20 more runs. I just wanted to finish the powerplay using those three bowlers, which is why I started with Dushmantha."
Mehidy Hasan Miraz (Bangladesh Captain): "Definitely I think we bowled really well. The wicket was excellent and it was not easy to bowl. Credit goes to Taskin, Mustafiz and Tanvir.

When me and Towhid were batting. I think we were batting well. We were discussing to go positive and to take the game deep. If we had taken it to the final 10 overs, it would've been easy for us. We had a few mistakes. Our opening spot is in worry.

Yes we are a new side. A lot of new guys are coming and we are thinking positive only from here. We need to give them opportunities. They might pay off one day."
Kusal Mendis (Player of the Match & Series): "I am very happy. My batting coach told me yesterday that if I perform well, the team will win. In the last game, we struggled against spin in the middle overs. After that, I spoke with the batting coach and learned how to handle those situations better. The pitch was really good in the first 10 overs, and then it got a little slow."

Time for the post-match & series presentation.....
9:54 PM IST and Local Time | Sri Lanka have outplayed Bangladesh by 99 runs in the series decider and clinched the 3-match series by a margin of 2-1. They have done well with the ball in the second innings and exploited the conditions to win another ODI series in home.

Charith Asalanka won the toss and elected to bat first. His decision looked a bit scratchy when Nishan Madushka got out cheaply. But Kusal Mendis and the other opener Pathum Nissanka started to score runs steadily. Tanvir Islam got the better of Nissanka on 35 but Kusal took the innings forward with Kamindu Mendis. But Kamindu got out for just 16 and the team score read 100/3 after the 21st over.

Kusal Mendis and his skipper then started putting up a fight. They played the Bangladesh spinners well in the middle overs and looked really solid. Their 124-run stand created a solid foundation for the hosts before Asalanka got out for 58. Kusal Mendis meanwhile got to his 6th ODI hundred.

Bangladesh bowlers came back well in the death overs. They bowled it in line and restricted the batters. Shamim Hossain got the better of Kusal Mendis who scored 124 runs off 114 balls with 18 boundaries. Wanindu Hasaranga and Dushmantha Chameera played two good and short cameos to take the score to 285/7.

For Bangladesh, Taskin Ahmed and Mehidy Hasan Miraz got  two wickets. Tanzim Hasan Sakib, Tanvir Islam and Shamim took a wicket each.

Bangladesh came to chase the run and got a few early boundaries as Tanzid Hasan Tamim showed aggression right from the start. But Asitha Fernando got the better of him on 17 and in the very next over, Najmul Hossain Shanto was castled by Dushmantha Chameera for a bronze duck. Right after that, the run rate got a bit sloppy for Bangladesh. Opener Parvez Hossain Emon was struggling and was throwing kitchen sink at almost everything. Towhid Hridoy was taking his time. Their partnership yielded just 42 off 58 balls before Emon got out for 28 off 44.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz then joined Towhid Hridoy. Bangladesh skipper then took the spinners on to get some boundaries. He was looking good till Liyanage took his catch off Wellalage's delivery. He stayed there for 25 balls to score just 28. Towhid Hridoy played a good knock by remaining watchful. He hit 3 fours and a maximum to score 51 off 78 balls to bring up his 9th ODI fifty.

The Bangladesh middle order fell cheaply and that cost them highly. Shamim Hossain departed for just 12 and shortly after Hridoy got out. Jaker Ali swung his bat to score 27 off 35 balls with 2 fours and a maximum. Asitha Fernando castled him and that was the last nail in Bangladesh's coffin. In the 40th over, Tanvir Islam hit Wanindu Hasaranga for a boundary but tried to replicate the same in the next ball but found Nishan Madushka in the deep and that was the final wicket.

Sri Lankan pacers were spot on with their tight bowling. Asitha Fernando conceded just 33 from his 7 overs taking 3 wickets. Dushmantha Chameera took 3 wickets also but went for 51 runs from his 8 overs. Two key spinners, Dunith Wellalage and Wanindu Hasaranga took a couple of wickets each.
