Milestone
That brings an end to our coverage for this game. This is Akshay Bhide, signing off, on behalf of my co-commentators Ninaad Dixit, Deepak Prakash and Darpan Tikiya and scorer Dushyant Madhukar Kumar. Until next time, cheers and good bye.
Harmanpreet Kaur (India Women Captain): "This game was very important and we wanted to end on a positive note. It was a very good pitch and everybody took the responsibility. They took the team in a situation where our bowling unit can show their bowling and win the game for us. Jemi, Smriti, Deepti they all batted really well and really happy to see them doing well for the team.

We told Deepti to just keep batting because today's pitch was better than the previous ones. The ball was coming really nicely. I think they calculated really well.

Amanjot was really good day giving us the breakthrough which we spoke in the team meeting. Really good to see she is someone who can bowl and bat. Good to see her bowling performance today."
Jemimah Rodrigues (Player of the Match): "The year has just begun for me. The main target is the World Cup. More special because my parents are here. They were not there when I scored my first hundred. They are here today.

I think we lost three wickets. I tried to play simple cricket. Didn't try to do extra but I tried to score runs. I tried to build partnerships with Smriti and then Deepti. Deepti played really well.

I think it's just the confidence I have and I know my game. I used to play 4-5 dot balls and I used to throw away my wicket. T20 cricket has helped me. Playing different leagues across the world has given me the belief that in any condition, I can deliver for my team. I wasn't thinking about my 100 till I reach the 90s.

Honestly, it's very hot here in Sri Lanka. It's getting little difficult but I guess that's why you play cricket. You want to get better. More of endurance stuff than strength and that's helping me."
Player of the Match: Jemimah Rodrigues
Chloe Tryon (South Africa Women Captain): "A little bit disappointing. We can say as a team probably not the best start we had with the ball. Our fielding hasn't been up to the standard whole tournament. We leaked about 30-40 runs that really cost us in the 2nd half. We won a good toss and it was a good wicket throughout.

[Pulling back after Jemimah-Deepti's stand] It was tough. They were going at ease, we were trying to find ways. We should have put a lot more pressure on them and we didn't. They just ran away with it. We were just trying to stay in the game as much as we could. You got to give credit where it's due. We should have been hitting the stumps a lot more. Going back to the basics will be important before the next game against Sri Lanka.

[On Annerie Dercksen] She is really exciting to bat with. She struggled a little bit with the cramps but we didn't think of anything but just hitting the ball. We never gave up till the end and that's what I love about this team. They show a lot of character. We can pat ourselves for the good effort we gave today."

6:04 PM IST, Local Time: That’s it. India Women beat South Africa Women by 23 runs. The Proteas Women remain winless in the Tri-Series and miss out on a place in the final. India Women get back to winning ways and will now face hosts Sri Lanka Women in the final which will be played on Sunday.

Chasing a mammoth 338, South Africa Women lost Lara Goodall (4) in the second over. Debutant Miane Smit joined Tazmin Brits as both started building a partnership. They played positively and pounced on anything loose. Amanjot Kaur broke the 63-run stand by dismissing Brits on 26. Smit looked good at the crease before playing a loose shot and getting cleaned up on 39.

Annerie Dercksen and Nondumiso Shangase stitched a 70-run partnership for the fourth wicket but the required run-rate crept and the latter fell on a run-a-ball 36 while trying to up the ante. Nallapureddy Charani entered the wickets column by trapping Sinalo Jafta on 21. Dercksen at the other end looked solid and brought up her second ODI fifty.

Chloe Tryon joined Dercksen and both hit some lusty blows in the last 10 overs. Dercksen scored a fine 81 before getting cleaned up in the 46th over. Tryon raced past her fifty and scored a quickfire 39-ball 63 before the play was halted due to bad light. The play resumed soon, with the Proteas Women requiring 39 runs from 12 balls.

12 runs were scored in the penultimate over. Tryon (67) and Nadine de Klerk (22*) tried hard but failed to take their side across the line as they finished their innings on 314/7. Amanjot Kaur bowled beautifully for the Women in Blue and registered figures of 3/59 in her nine overs. Nallapureddy Charani (1/58), Deepti Sharma (2/57) and Pratika Rawal (1/15) too entered the wickets column in India Women’s 23-run win over South Africa Women.

Earlier in the day, India Women were inserted to bat. They lost Pratika Rawal (1), Harleen Deol (4) and skipper Harmanpreet Kaur (28) in the first seven overs. Smriti Mandhana along with Jemimah Rodrigues led the recovery work for them. The duo added 88 for the fourth wicket before Mandhana fell on 51. Deepti joined Jemimah and both kept the Proteas Women at bay to put 122 between them.

Jemimah played some wonderful strokes and brought up her second ODI ton. She hit 15 fours and a maximum before falling on 101-ball 123 in the 43rd over. Deepti pressed on the accelerator post Jemimah’s departure and raced to 93 off 84 before holing out in the deep on the penultimate ball of the innings. India Women finished their innings on 337/9, their highest ODI total against South Africa Women.

Masabata Klaas, Nadine de Klerk and Nonkululeko Mlaba picked up two wickets each for the Proteas Women. Annerie Dercksen (1/36) and Chloe Tryon (1/46) grabbed a scalp apiece but they failed to keep a check on the scoring rate throughout the innings.
