A box-office show at Darwin as the home side didn’t upset their fans after 17 long years. Australia go one up in the three-match series as they gear up for the next assignment with South Africa at the same venue in about 44 hours.
That's it from us. Arijit Kundu signing off on behalf of co-commentator Ninaad Dixit and scorer Zeeshan Naiyer. Adios!
Mitchell Marsh (Australia Captain): "A great way to start. It was an amazing defence with the ball. In T20 cricket you just go and go and go and I think it's more about backing your execution and letting the game dictate. There are times when you will have to bat through but you want guys like Tim David to come out and just bat the way he bats and not think too much. It was a serious dew, you have to dry the shoes tonight. Outstanding effort from all our bowlers to be as defensive as they were and keep us in the game and eventually win it for us."
Aiden Markram (South Africa Captain): "Yeah, got close, look, I think we have to go on from this, but of learning for us in the next 24-48 hours. Yeah, pretty good, great energy [on Kwena Maphaka's four wickets], to get it right on a wicket like this. Hopefully, he can get it on from hereon."
Tim David (Player of the Match): "Very special win for the boys, stoked with that one. We went pretty hard today but there's not going to be many occasions when that many of our batters miss out. I reckon there'll be someone in the next match that will get the runs to get us over the line. It was our game plan in the powerplay going hard at the ball. It came off tonight."
