Put into bat first, the Texas Super Kings got off to a steady start, showing caution against the new ball. As the pitch began to ease out, the batters made the most of it. Skipper Faf du Plessis was in sublime touch at the top, crafting a classy 91 off just 52 deliveries. Unfortunately, he had to retire hurt in the 19th over while in the 90s, denying him a well-deserved century.
He was ably supported by Shubham Ranjane in the middle order, who played a crucial unbeaten knock of 65 from 41 balls, anchoring the innings and taking TSK to a strong total of 188/4.
With the ball, the Seattle Orcas struggled to contain the flow of runs during the powerplay and middle overs. However, they managed to pull things back slightly towards the end. Jasdeep Singh and Cameron Gannon were the only wicket-takers, claiming one wicket each.
In the chase, it was all about the Texas Super Kings’ bowling attack. With momentum on their side, the TSK bowlers were clinical from the get-go. They kept the pressure on, picking up wickets at regular intervals and never allowing Seattle to find their rhythm.
Adam Milne was the standout performer, delivering a sensational spell of 5/23, becoming only the fourth bowler in MLC history to take a five-wicket haul. The spin duo of Noor Ahmad and Akeal Hosein also played their part to perfection, picking up two wickets apiece.
Seattle Orcas were eventually bowled out for 137, handing TSK a comprehensive 51-run victory.
With this dominant win, the Texas Super Kings climb to the top of the points table.
