That's it from the fixture, this is Utsav Chandak, signing off on behalf of my Ajay Singh and the scorer of the fixture Ghanendra Singh Thakur. Thanks for staying with us till the end.
Nicholas Pooran (MI New York Captain): "It is good to be on the other side. A couple of tough losses but really happy that we could get over the line today. We knew coming here to Miami, every game is a must win game for us. We kept speaking about belief. Trying to be better each and every day. We have lost some players and it has been challenging for us, we are trying to have fun and embrace the momentum, if it is your day, you have to make the most of it.
I always tell people. You need to be part of the franchise to understand. You want to win every game and every tournament. We have that belief regardless if we are the bottom of the table or at the top of the table. We like to have a chance of winning the tournament.
When I got out there, I felt 150 would be enough. We fell short of that but the way guys went out in the field that run out and tight bowling from Georgy in the powerplay and Boulty. We felt like this KKR franchise is under some pressure. We felt like it we can stay in the game, anything can happen."
Kieron Pollard(MVP):" What a good wicket this is!(laughs) No obviously, we were under some pressure. We had lost a couple wickets. We had lost our captain, who had been scoring runs for us at the top of the innings. So far me it was a matter of digging in deep, and putting up a score for our bowlers to defend.
I think I have a lot, 703 games as well, coaching as well. It is something that you try to imprint in the heads of the guys that you speak to, and then when you get out there, you try to ensure that thing is working.
It was just a matter of trying to use the dimensions of the ground, and try to think like a batter. I don't have pace, I don't have bounce, I don't have seam or swing, but I have played enough cricket, just to put the ball in the right areas.
I would want to thank all the Caribbean people who have come out to support us. Just one more game to go, keep supporting us."
Most Valuable Player of the Match: Kieron Pollard
Play of the Day: Ehsan Adil
Power Hitter of the Match: Kieron Pollard
Time for the post-match presentation...
Jason Holder (Los Angeles Knight Riders Captain): "Yeah, the bowlers did a hell of a job. To restrict them to 142 was a manageable total, we just didn't bat well enough.
(On retiring out Unmukt Chand) Yeah, we needed to get ahead. We were behind. It was a tough pitch to start on. I think, Unmukt was struggling at the end of his innings to get the boundaries. Struggled to find the momentum. We decided to get the big hitters in for the last over to get the boundary.
It has been a tough season for us. We have to take ownership as players and look for ways to improve to come back next year."
4:12 AM IST, 6:42 PM Local Time: MI New York have won a nail biting thriller by 6 runs.
The fixture of the Major League Cricket match between LA Knight Riders and MI New York has come to an end. Jason Holder, captain of LA Knight Riders won the toss and decided to bowl first. MI New York sent out to bat, were off to a very poor start. They lost three wickets in the powerplay with 41 runs on the board. LA Knight Riders had tightened the flow of runs controlling almost the entirety of the middle overs. At the back end of the innings, Kieron Pollard did what he does best. He powered MI New York to 142, scoring 50 off 36 balls. Shadley Van Schalkwyk was the pick of the bowlers, with his 3 wicket haul, conceding 25 runs in 3 overs.
While chasing 143, LA Knight Riders lost an early wicket due to a mix-up leading to the departure of Andre Fletcher. After the first wicket, LAKR took a safety first approach, taking the game deep. Unmukt Chand stood tall from one end, scoring a hard fought half century. But, apart from him, no other player could get going. The pitch got slower and slower and boundaries became hard to get. The asking rate kept creeping up as the batters showed no intention to up the ante and took the game deep and eventually fell short. Unmukt Chand was retired out at 59 off 48 deliveries. Nosthush Kenjige was the pick of the bowlers who kept things tight in the middle overs, giving just 14 runs in 3 overs and took a wicket.
Looking at the points table, LA Knight Riders have officially been knocked out of the tournament. MI New York on the other hand, have a good NRR, and have replaced Seattle Orcas for the fourth spot. Their fate is in their own hands and they have to win the final game to qualify for the fourth spot, even after a disappointing league stage so far.
