Washington Freedom got thrashed by the Unicorns in the inaugural match of this edition's MLC but today they made a great comeback by thwarting a heavy defeat to the Seattle Orcas. They have won the contest by 5 wickets and with 39 balls to go. In the first game of today's double header, San Francisco Unicorns continued their winning momentum by defeating the Los Angeles Knight Riders by 32 runs.
Tomorrow we have another double header. Los Angeles Knight Riders will lock horns against Texas Super Kings in the afternoon game and the San Francisco Unicorns and MI New York will have a rendezvous in the night game.
For now, this is Saptak Sanyal signing off on behalf of my co-commentators Akshaya Krishna Polya and Ajay Pal Singh and our scorer/analyst Ashok Dayma. BYE BYE! Don't forget to keep tuned in as we will bring you with the live coverage of a lot of cricketing action happening across the globe.
Glenn Maxwell (Washington Freedom Captain):"I thought we were outstanding. Our execution was perfect. We got a good start in the powerplay and that helped us,
It is too early to comment on how the local talents have improved. But they did well in the last season and courtesy of that we won the title. You see Abhishek (Paradkar). He had no prior preparation and was a late inclusion but bowled beautifully.
Special mentions to Ian Holland. The way he mixed the pace up to trouble the batters was a treat to watch. We expected it to be a slow wicket and glad that he exploited the conditions perfectly.
We have executed better in the batting today. I think the key is to not give away the wickets in the middle overs. Rachin and Owen gave us a great start."
Ian Holland (Most Valuable Player of the Match):"In the last season, I came into a group with so much international experience. I had a great couple of years.
After the first game, we identified the hold of the wicket was of a greater extent. We tried to exploit that. I had a lot of practice to take the pace off from the balls and had a clear idea in mind."
