Match Details
09:24 AM IST, 11:54 PM Local Time: What a dominant performance from TKR as they continue their prolific record at the Brian Lara Academy with a 7-wicket win over the Barbados Royals. Fifties From Colin Munro and Nicholas Pooran ensured that TKR made easy work of the 179-run chase.
The duo of Munro and Alex Hales ensured a fantastic start to
the chase as they put up a fifty-run stand. Barbados Royalsβ left-arm pacer
Ramon Simmonds had Munro dropped in the 4th over but he got some
compensation in the final over of the Powerplay when he had Hales caught at
covers. Keacy Carty also didn't last long as Jomel Warrican struck off his first ball with Kadeem Alleyne taking a stunning catch at short third.
The two quick breakthroughs didn't really push back TKR as Munro smacked a couple of sixes off Green before getting to his fifty off 30 balls in the 8th over. Soon, Pooran also joined in on the fun and smacked three consecutive sixes off Rovman Powell's bowling in the 10th over. At the half-way stage of the innings, TKR sat comfortably needing only 60 off 60 balls. There was a lull in the scoring after that until the 15th over when Pooran struck a six to bring up his 14th CPL fifty. At the end of the same over though, Munro was run-out with Sherfane Rutherford firing a good throw to the batter's end.
The game didn't last for long after that as Kieron Pollard took a liking to Jomel Warrican's bowling with the 17th over going for 16 runs. Eventually, TKR got home with 13 balls to spare.
Earlier in the match, Ali Khan dismissed Quinton de Kock early in the piece but the duo of Brandon King and Kadeem Alleyne came together a 50-run partnership. The partnership was broken by Andre Russell in the 11th over as he sent back King. After that, Alleyne slowed down big time but Sherfane Rutherford kept the Royals afloat with a flurry of big hits. Alleyne's struggle came to an end when he holed out to deep point off Mohammad Amir's bowling in the 15th over.
A couple of overs later, Russell had Rutherford caught at long-on but skipper Rovman Powell took over and produced a quick-fire 31 off 15 balls to help the Royals finish with 178/6.
