That would be all from our side as we draw curtains on our coverage of this T20 International between Canada and Namibia. For now, it's Soumarya Dutta taking your leave on behalf of my co-commentator Saptak Sanyal and our Scorer/Analyst Bishal Mandal. See you soon.
JJ Smit (Player of the Match):"It's coming good at the moment. Really happy for the bowling unit. Bit surprised that they choose to bat first. I love bowling in this ground. It is a bit sticky.
After the first ball, Erasmus asked me to drag the length a bit back and it paid off. The victory is a turning point for us. Hopefully we will continue with the momentum."
Player of the Match: JJ Smit
Gerhard Erasmus (Namibia Captain)- "It's a great victory for the boys and we feel really good. The rain has been playing a bit of a spoil sport but you need to manage things. We did that well and adopted well. It's about execution of skills. JJ Smit sets the tone for us and he has great control of his skill. The side looks well balanced with him in it. JP Kotze is quite dangerous and we wanted him to play more courageous knocks and it came off for him. We need to be ruthless tomorrow and we need to come with consistency of our skills. It will be another opportunity for the boys to put their hands up and prove themselves.
Nicholas Kirton (Canada Captain):"I think the rain came before toss and it facilitated the decision of batting first. The pitch was with extra bounce and we failed to score. Anytime 40 for 7 will reel you backward.
As professionals, we have to find a new route to be back. Definitely when we come tomorrow, we will look to do better. We still have a game to go. Possibly we will think about batting first again."
Time for the post-match presentations
08:42 PM IST 5:12 PM Local Time- JP Kotze has finished things off in style for Namibia and they've made light work of this run chase. 42 runs was never going to be any kind of a challenge for the hosts and they did it inside four overs.
Kotze managed to smash a heap of boundaries and sixes as Niko Davin watched from the other end and barely got the strike. The former whacked 33 runs from 14 balls to seal the run chase for the hosts as they looked to be in a mission to get the task done inside the powerplay itself.
The Canadian bowlers weren't really happy about the conditions and they barely had anything to defend given that the batting had failed miserably in the first half of the game. The two seamers, Kaleem Sana and Dilon Heyliger were smashed around the park by Kotze and they failed to get any consolation breakthrough either. In the end Namibia cruised home in just 16 balls and with 10 wickets remaining.
Stay tuned as we bring to you the Post Match Presentation in a short while!
