The much anticipated Lahore-Karachi clash lived up to its billing. It drew the biggest crowd that this venue has in the season and despite the game stretching far into overtime due to a big rain delay, the fans stayed back. They were treated to a thrilling final over finish too.

We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did bringing it to you. It is time for the quartet of Darpan Tikiya, Deepak Prakash, Zeeshan Naiyer and Arjun Bhalla to sign off. Join us tomorrow for Multan Sultans vs Peshawar Zalmi. Our coverage begins at 7:30 PM IST (7:00 PM local time). Goodbye for now!
David Warner (Karachi Kings captain): "It was amazing. But I want to talk about the bowlers first. 7/47 after the rain break was an amazing effort. And Niazi, it was a special knock. We knew that if we had two big overs at the end, we would win. Shaheen said (at the toss) that it would turn. Not one ball turned. I was baffled by those comments. So you want to back yourself."
Irfan Khan Niazi (Player of the Match): "It was about believe. Saad (Baig) was playing realy well, so that allowed me to take my time. Lahore has a good bowling attack. But I backed myself. It is one of the best innings of my career. I am a player of this calibre but I was not able to do it since long. So, I was a bit down. But the coaches kept on motivating me."
Player of the Match: Irfan Khan Niazi
Mohammad Naeem gets the Superpower of the Day award.
Fakhar Zaman gets the Energetic Batter of the Match award.
Aamir Jamal gets the Catch of the Match award.
Time for the post match presentation.
Shaheen Shah Afridi (Lahore Qalandars Captain): "It’s part of the game—whoever plays better cricket wins the match. It was a used wicket and batting wasn’t easy at first, but after the rain, the ball started coming onto the bat nicely. We will try to overcome our loopholes in the upcoming games."
1:00 AM IST, 12:30 AM local time: Karachi Kings steal a cliffhanger. They defeat arch-rivals Lahore Qalandars by 4 wickets (DLS method)

One can't help but feel for the Lahore fans in the stands. They turned up in a huge numbers tonight, stayed till the very end despite that long rain delay only to see their team fall short. The rivalry lived up to its billing though. It turned out to be a thrilling rollercoaster ride which captured our imagination with every thrilling bend.

For a long time, we all thought that the Kings were going to blow the chase up. They had some brisk cameos at the top of the order. Warner, Seifert, Baig — all exhibited bold intent and ensured that Karachi did not fall behind the rate. However, none of them could convert their starts into anything substantial. Whenever, you felt that they just had their noses ahead, the Qalandars pulled it back. Rauf got Warner to chop one on. Seifert mishit off a ball that he should have put away. And just when Baig was teeing off, Daryl "golden arm" Mitchell bowled an over that not just accounted for his wicket but also only conceded two runs to swing the pendulum back into the home side's favour.

But Irfan Khan Niazi had other plans. He lit up the stadium with his sparkling knock, smashing the best bowlers in the country left, right and centre. The pressure of the situation never bogged him down. Perhaps, Mohammad Nabi's presence on the other end helped. Together, the two blazed through the homestretch, taking the Kings home with 3 balls to spare.

Earlier, Mohammad Naeem's commanding knock was the highlight of the Lahore's batting innings. He was not afraid to take a while to get his eye in. In fact, he did not offer a shot to any of the first balls he faced. Despite that, he got to his fifty in just 22 balls. His shot making radiated confidence and he had an air of authority in the way he went about his business.

Another important innings came off the bat of his left-handed opening partner, who was a bit scratchy to begin with. But post the rain break, we saw vintage Fakhar Zaman. He swung hard at anything even remotely in his arc and connected with quite a few. He was agricultural at times, but managed to garner runs at a strike rate of 150+.

Though what followed post that, was a "pummel or perish" approach. Every batter that came in wielded the long handle and nobody really managed to string together the desired number of boundaries. Abbas Afridi benefited the most out of it. He ended up with figures of 4/27.
