The first day of the 10th Edition of the Pakistan Super League is done and dusted. The defending champions, Islamabad United have come out victorious against Lahore Qalandars. Tomorrow it's a double header day. In the afternoon game, we will have the Babar Azam-led Peshawar Zalmi locking horns with the Saud Shakeel-led Quetta Gladiators and in the evening game, Karachi Kings will face Multan Sultans.
For now, this is Saptak Sanyal signing off on behalf of my colleagues Deepak Prakash, Arjun Bhalla and Zeeshan Naiyer. Do join us tomorrow as we will bring you the updates of the enthralling encounters. Good night.
Shadab Khan (Islamabad United Captain):"T20 cricket is still a game where you can use the conditions and win the game.
Definitely I'm working hard on my bowling. I know I can be beneficial for any team with my bowling. Hopefully I will do well with the national team again. Sometime it's hard and you need rest. We don't have international cricket now and are playing PSL. Hope this works well.
Pindi is my hometown and whenever I play here, it inspires me and I enjoy my stay. As a player it is our responsibility to pay it back to the crowd."
Jason Holder (Player of the Match): "Yeah, it's been a good start. You know, it's great to finally be here in Pakistan. Itβs been a long time coming for me personally, but itβs a great start with a great franchise. I think the guys have been really welcoming, and it feels good to get going. Yeah, I think I was able to assess it quite early with the opening pair. Both our opening bowlers started really well, and that gave us a clear sense of how the wicket was going to play. Honestly, we thought it would play a little truer, but having said that, we still had to adapt and adjust. I felt we did that quite well β both up front and again in the middle overs when we came back for our second spells.
I think you stick to a particular process, but I think today, you know, it was only the lucky side, I guess, in picking up a few wickets in the middle, I think we executed really well, which is the most important thing. And that brought the wickets. You know, I wouldn't say necessarily we went looking for wickets, but I think if you build enough pressure, you bought enough good deliveries, then, you know, you would definitely get the results.
(On his favourite dismissal) I think the yorker was a good delivery. It swung back a little as well, and I guess it was a bit unexpected β it caught David by surprise."
