Mitchell Marsh (Australian Captain): "Really good performance to start the series. The West Indies put us under pressure with the bat initially but we did superbly to come back later on. Then, the young guys in our middle-order, it was fantastic. Everyone was great under pressure. It comes down to execution. Some of them haven't played a lot for Australia but they have played lots otherwise.

(On Mitchell Owen's performance) Great to have a young kid come out and performing. I am sure a lot of people back home would have watched that. Pleased for him. (Takeaways) Bowling performance in the end overs and the way we kept going with the bat, think we were 4/60 at one point but we were really positive all through."
Shai Hope (West Indies Captain): "Yeah, it didn't go as planned but I must take the positives from it. We started well with the bat but I guess we left 20-30 runs with the bat in the backend. But with the ball, we didn't take enough wickets to put pressure on them.

I reckon the guys are going too hard. We thought we needed too many runs, we didn't respect the game in that period. It is something to look at before the next game. We cannot really falter like that on too many occasions. We have to learn quickly.

A bit of both. Missed executions. They have power-hitters. We have to bowl where we want the batters to hit the ball. So that they don't just run away with those scores."
Mitchell Owen (Player of the Match): "I am firstly happy to have got the win, happy to contribute. (3rd Australian to score a fifty on T20I debut after David Warner and Ricky Ponting) Great to join those two class players. I have been trying to bat positively over the last 6-8 months, wasn't anything different today. Just tried to put the pressure on the bowlers.

(Partnership with Cameron Green) It was great batting with him, kept me calm. Hope we do it together a lot more. (Batting in the middle-order as opposed to opening) Only difference is five fielders out. I try to put that out of my mind and swing hard."
Mitchell Owen has been named as the 'Player of the Match'.
Time for the Post-match Presentation!
9 AM IST & 10:30 PM Local Time: Australia complete a hard-fought win in the series opener to go 1-0 up in this five-game series. Mitchell Owen starred with both bat and ball on his debut. A half-century for Cameron Green also helped Australia to pull off a tricky chase with seven balls to spare.

Earlier in the day, Australia won the toss and decided to bowl first. Shai Hope and Brandon King got the hosts off to a flying start.

Cooper Connolly was introduced into the attack during the powerplay and he accounted for King.

Roston Chase walked in at 3 and was slow off the blocks but he soon picked pace and put on a show, adding 91 runs for the second wicket with skipper Hope.

Chase fell for 60 off 32 and Hope made 55 off 39. Shimron Hetmyer was promoted up the order and he played a fine cameo, scoring 38 off 19.

At one stage, it looked like West Indies will sail past 200 but a collapse towards the backend of the innings saw them finish at 189/8. They lost six wickets for 37 runs in the final five overs of their innings.

Ben Dwarshuis picked up three wickets in the final over to finish with figures of 4/36 from his four.

Sean Abbott, Cooper Connolly, Mitchell Owen and Nathan Ellis all chipped in with a wicket each. Ellis bowled a brilliant last over, giving away only 5 runs.

In reply, Australia lost Jake Fraser-McGurk early in the piece. Josh Inglis hit a couple of maximums but his cameo of 18 was cut short by Akeal Hosein.

Cameron Green received a hostile welcome from Alzarri Joseph but he weathered the storm and raced to a quick-fire half-century.

Glenn Maxwell failed to get going but debutant Mitchell Owen rose to the occasion and put on a show with the bat in front of his parents.

The two lanky all-rounders added 80 off just 40 balls for the 5th wicket. Both departed after scoring their respective half-centuries.

Australia lost Owen and Cooper Connolly in quick succession. Sean Abbott was dropped off Jason Holder's bowling by Jewel Andrew before he took the visitors over the line along with Ben Dwarshius.
