Another day, another humdinger of a contest in the Indian Premier League. Lucknow Super Giants held their nerve in the end, and Avesh Khan’s exceptional final over saw the visitors home off the very last ball of the game. Rajasthan Royals were bossing the game until the 18th over, but suddenly their innings unravelled, and they fell short by just 2 runs.

Avesh Khan (Player of the Match): "[On his injury] The hand is fine. It felt like it was broken as I was hit on the phone, I saw the stars in front of my eyes, didn't get the time to celebrate.
[Comparison with Starc] I don't want to be Mitchell Starc, I want to become a good Avesh Khan. I want to bowl with clarity and execute my plans well.
I don't look at the scoreboard and bowl, I trust my execution. The thought was to hold boundaries in the first 3 balls to put the pressure on the batters.
[On Miller dropping the catch] When the ball was mistimed in the air, I saw David Miller and thought that he will take it. Saving 6 runs is easier on this ground because a mistimed stroke can go to the boundary.
[Chat with Pant] We were only talking about which fielder to put in the deep. I am trying to understand my bowling pattern which helps in deciding these factors.
[Confidence] I think about the team, I wanted to win the match. We need to play 6 more matches and I will try to win those games for my side as well with such performances."

Rishabh Pant (Lucknow Super Giants Captain): "I think both. When we talk about these games, they build character. That's the kind of character we want in the team, never say die attitude. A good win. We feel, as a team, it will take us to a different level. These kind of finishes will help us to build character and get better.
Definitely, all the credit to the bowlers. They are holding their nerves at the right moment. It is not easy when a game when we were always behind the game. Batting has been good but in the end, our bowlers kept their nerves. Especially Avesh Khan, he bowled 3 overs and they were fantastic.
Just very simple idea was to take your own time and execute your plans with a clear mindset. Not think about I am getting late or anything like that. Just taking one ball at a time and trusting your bowlers and your fielders.
We feel definitely, we are moving in the right direction. We will sit around and figure out the areas where we have to get better at."
