We eventually had a game after a long wait, but it wasn't an easy surface to bat. The bowlers enjoyed each and every action until Tim David began his power show. A maiden IPL fifty for David gave RCB something to bowl at after a top-class bowling effort from Punjab Kings saw the hosts getting in danger of bagging the lowest-ever IPL total. There was not much pressure on PBKS' batting line-up, and they managed to crawl home with 11 balls to spare.
RCB need to find a way to win games at home, else they will struggle at the back end of the tournament. So, doubleheaders come our way over the weekend, with GT hosting DC in the afternoon game on Saturday, following which RR take on LSG in Jaipur in the evening.
Thatβs all from us for this fixture. For now, this is AkshayaKrishna Polya signing off on behalf of my colleagues Ninaad Dixit, Pritam Dey, Manish Bishnoi, Paras Yadav, and Aman. We will meet again. Until then, it's cheers!
Tim David (Player of the Match): "It didn't feel so easy. I don't know what to say. The boys that bat up top, they communicate the conditions back down so I get a chance to see what the pitch is doing and maybe try to play to that method. The practice pitches here are quite similar trying to figure out a method of how to play the conditions.
Our coaching staff and management have built a squad for certain reasons with guys to bat in certain positions so I am really pleased. I feel like I'm batting well at the moment and I can contribute but I will trust the coaches putting me in where I can and if I do get the opportunity to face the balls like today when the team needed me to, it's important to score runs and then maybe you start asking questions in the commentary box.
[Hitting boundaries straightaway] I think it's something you got to get comfortable with. At times when you're trying too hard and it doesn't come off. The challenge has been a couple of times here in Bangalore. Trying to bat with some of the bowlers in the end, trying to string a few partnerships together. Tonight was difficult trying to get some messaging to figure out what a plan was to bat out there in the middle. It did gives a bit of clarity. You have to manage the risk a little bit. I'm pleased with how I've been doing that so far but also I would like to be sitting up there having a drink after a nice win.
[On home and away record] It's been tough because we've been faced with different conditions. Tonight there was rain and the pitch was under cover so it was difficult to know how it was going to play. We haven't got a great grasp on so far. We haven't played well at our home ground. That's an undeniable fact. We're gonna have to find a template to find a way to win a couple of games here. We've been playing great cricket and if I was Punjab, I'd be worried about us coming up to their place tomorrow. We got that to look forward to but we have to regroup before tonight."

Shreyas Iyer (Punjab Kings Captain): "Yes, variety is the spice of life. We have managed to experience most of them in this IPL.
There was no thinking, to be honest. I was making decisions based on my instincts. Never wanted the new batters to settle down at the crease.
Marco Jansen was lethal tonight. He was getting some extra bounce. The rest of the bowlers helped him. I had a chat with Arshdeep Singh after his new ball spell. He told me that there is some bounce from the hard length. To be honest, I didn't know it would play. The bowlers did adapt really well. I didn't see a single six hit down the ground off a pacer.
Definitely, you need one of the batters to be aggressive. Happy with Nehal's approach. Nehal Wadhera was exceptional tonight.
I personally had a chat with Chahal and told him that you are match winner and you need to get us as many wickets as possible and you don't need to be safe. He has capability of bouncing back and he is one of the best bowlers in the IPL so far. All depends on the nature of the wickets."
