Welsh Fire Women have got their first victory of the season. They struggled in their first five games but now got the result. They have 2 points beside their name, equal to the Birmingham Phoenix Women.
This is Saptak Sanyal, signing off alongside my co-commentators Deepak Prakash, Arijit Kundu and the scorer/analyst of this match Manish Bishnoi. Good night.
Jess Jonassen (Hero of the Match):"I mean it is not bad to be fair. Muscled a few with the bat and then things went right with the ball. It is good to get a victory.
I mean I had the match-up in my favour and I took them on. Glad that a few of them went over the rope. I think you have to nail your length and vary the pace. You need the combination of both to get success on this pitch. If you bowl half-volleys, batters will hit those.
Yes this victory is important. We had been searching for it all season and finally got it. A few games left for us and I hope we finish the season well."

10:10 PM IST and 5:40 PM Local Time | Welsh Fire Women have got their first victory of the season. They are over the moon for valid reasons. This victory will give them a lot of confidence and Birmingham Phoenix Women have lost five straight games so far.
Welsh Fire Women came to bat first and they lost their skipper Tammy Beaumont cheaply for 2. Sophia Dunkley and Hayley Matthews stepped up then and registered 71 runs for the second wicket in 51 balls. Dunkley was the top scorer of the Fire innings for her 53 off 43 balls with 6 fours and a maximum.
Jess Jonassen came in the crease with 28 balls left in the innings and she swung her bat to hit 3 fours and 4 sixes in her 17-ball stay to score 44. Her innings helped the Fire Women to reach 150. Hayley anchored the innings and scored 34 off 33 balls.
For the Birmingham Phoenix Women, Megan Schutt took a couple of wickets and Hannah Baker chipped in with a wicket.
Coming to chase the 151-run target, Phoenix Women found themselves in deep waters losing Emma Lamb and Marie Kelly in the first two sets. Georgia Voll and Ellyse Perry started to rebuild the innings and they added 56 runs in 39 balls. Voll scored 29 off 18 before Jonassen knocked her stumps over. In the very next ball, Hayley Matthews got the better of Amy Jones for a golden duck.
Ellyse Perry was looking promising but she started losing partners rapidly. Sterre Kalis gave her some company but she holed out to the deep of Jonassen on 15. Alisa Lister, Megan Schutt and Marie Taylor all got out cheaply and when the asking rate was a high mountain to climb, Perry gave a simple catch to Elwiss off Shabnim Ismail. She scored 55 runs from 43 balls with 7 fours and a maximum. Birmingham Phoenix Women could score 114/9 only in their 20 sets.
Shabnim Ismail, Jess Jonassen and Hayley Matthews took three wickets each for the Welsh Fire.
