Southern Brave Women have handed Manchester Originals Women a mauling. No doubt that the result would have dampened the spirits of the home fans. However, there is more cricket to follow today.

Next up, the male counterparts are going to go head to head. Jos Buttler, James Anderson, Heinrich Klaasen, Jofra Archer and James Vince would be among the superstars on display. The Manchester loyalists would hope that that match fetches a better outcome. Do join us for that game, which starts at 6:30 PM local time, 11:00 PM IST.

It would be all from this window. The commentators were Darpan Tikiya, Pritam Dey and Deepak Prakash. The scorer was Paras Yadav. Keep following Crex for more cricketing action from around the globe.
Lauren Bell (Hero of the Match): "Yeah, it's great to get our first win on the board. In a tournament like this, it's always great to get a good start. It was a great team performance.

Yeah, the girls did stuck in as it was a tricky surface to bat on but they did really well to get us over the line.

The coaching staff have been backing us since the start. We are focusing on our strengths. Hundred is a great competition and we just want to go out there and have fun."

10:01 PM IST, 5:31 PM local time: Southern Brave Women thump Manchester Originals Women to start the tournament on the perfect note.

Is it too soon to say that the Southern Brave have put the horrors of 2024 behind them? Last year, it took them 6 matches to notch up their first W. This year, they have begun their campaign on a winning note. But more than the victory, it is the manner of it which must please their fans. They have handed the Originals a thrashing in Manchester.

Apart from that Sophie Ecclestone jaffa' that dismissed Wyatt-Hodge, there wasn't much that went the way of the home team. They lost the toss and were asked to bat first. Their innings moved along like an old rusty bicycle on a muddy road — slowly, stuttering at every point and radiating agricultural vibes. Apart from Smale's hard-working 40*, there was no noteworthy contribution.

The score they notched up was obviously not enough. But any hopes of a fightback were also quashed very early. Wyatt-Hodge set the tone with her purposeful intent and some robust shot-making. All of that was mixed with caution in the right proportion. Then, Laura Wolvaardt came in and played some exquisite, textbook shots on her way to an unbeaten 37-ball-42, taking the team over the line.

Earlier, with the ball, Lauren Bell stood out for Southern Brave. She started her day with two consecutive wides, but finished with laudable figures of 3/28. Off-spinner Mady Villers impressed too and returned 2/19 off her 20 balls.
