Milestone
The fifth season of the Hundred has started off with a bang! The opening fixture served us with a power-packed Grace Harris special, some laudable swing bowling with the new ball in both the innings and Meg Lanning's cinematic knock — scratchy up top, steady in the middle and right towards the end, teased doing the improbable... only to fall short. But hang on, folks! That is not all.

The men are in action up next. Switch tabs to join the live coverage of London Spirits vs Oval Invincibles men's game. From here, this is Darpan Tikiya signing off on the behalf of Deepak Prakash, Satpak Sanyal and Paras Yadav. Sayonara!
Grace Harris: "Pretty early on, the openers told us that it wasn't doing much. So, we played our shots and in between pinched some singles too. I really don't care where I bat. It is good to cash in at the back end. (On Knight's injury and Dean being given the captaincy) Deano is a great leader. She is an intelligent cricketer. I roll in and have fun on the field."
Hero of the Match: Grace Harris
9:56 PM IST and 5:26 PM Local Time | London Spirit Women, the defending champions have kick started their campaign this year with a victory. They have defeated the Oval Invincibles Women by 17 runs and are the deserving winners.

Lauren Winfield-Hill won the toss and sent the Spirit to bat first. Spirit lost their opener Georgia Redmayne for a duck and the other opener Kira Chathli got out for 19 off 14 balls. Spirit were going slow in the powerplay but Cordelia Griffith and Grace Harris decided to take the bowlers on once they settled them in the crease. They were batting really well and registered a 100-run stand from 52 balls. Griffith found Gardner at long off off Tash Farrant on 50 off 29 balls and that marked the end of their partnership.

Grace Harris continued to hit the ball handsomely. Despite losing Charli Knott and Danielle Gibson cheaply at the other end, she hit the boundaries in the death overs to take the team score to 176 for 5 at the end of their 20th set. Grace Harris hit 6 maximums and 7 boundaries to remain unbeaten on 89 off 42 balls.

For the Invincibles, Marizanne Kapp and Natasha Farrant took 2 wickets each and Sophia Smale celebrated the wicket of Kira Chathli.

Coming to chase the 177-run target, the Invincibles got a huge jolt as they lost Lauren Winfield-Hill for a silver duck as Tara Norris trapped her in front. Norris bowled the first two sets well and conceded just 3 off it. Alice Capsey and Meg Lanning then put up some runs for the second wicket. Capsey was also trapped in front by Sarah Glenn for 22.

Meg Lanning and Marizanne Kapp then started going for the target but they were a bit slow in putting up the runs. They were taking their time till the 13th set and tried to take the momentum from the 14th set onwards. Their partnership of 77 from 48 balls ended with Isabelle Wong knocking over the leg stump of Kapp. Meg Lanning then led the run chase. She and Paige Scholfield together took 21 runs from the 18th set bowled by Eva Gray. Lanning looked to hit Wong for a maximum but found Gibson at deep midwicket. Lanning departed for 85 off 51 hitting 7 fours and 5 sixes and was looking good. But her dismissal shattered the hopes for the Invincibles. Charlie Dean bowled a fantastic final set and restricted Scholfield-Gardner pair and eventually the Spirit won the game by 17 runs.

Isabelle Wong took 2 wickets for 26 runs and she is the star of the show as she removed the two set batters. Tara Norris was fantastic with the new ball and took a wicket. Sarah Glenn conceded 28 from her 4 sets taking the wicket of Alice Capsey.

0 THE SPIRIT IS HIGH! The defending champions have won their opening match by 17 runs. Another very full ball darted in at the stumps. Gardner could only dig it out back to the bowler.
99b C Dean to J Gardner
0 More of the same. Gardner could not get under that very full ball and ended up bunting it back to the bowler.
