After three fairly one-sided contests across the Women's and the Men's competition, we finally witnessed a thriller tonight. Southern Brave came out on top against a much more fancied Manchester Originals team. That only leaves us wanting more.
We know that, being cricket fans, you're thinking the same. So, do join us tomorrow. It will be the Northern Superchargers taking on the Welsh Fire. The Women's match will start at 7:30 PM IST (3:00 PM local time) and the Men's game at 11:00 PM IST (6:30 PM local time). Tune in a little before for the build-up.
For now, this is the troika of Darpan Tikiya, Pritam Dey and Paras Yadav signing off. Hasta la vista!

Tymal Mills (Hero of the Match): "Well we somehow managed to get ourselves in a situation where we were one hit away from victory. Credit to Manchester as they bowled really well for the best part of the innings. Craig Overton brought some big hits out there in the end. It's always great to win close games like that.
I think our discussion was to get bat on ball firstly. We wanted to somehow scamper for quick singles. We managed to get a couple of crucial boundaries in the end. We wanted to take it as deep as we can. Tops (Topley) did a brilliant job in the end.
It was a wicket which rewarded you if you bowl the right lengths. I think we were a bit fuller in the powerplay. Once we dragged our length and hit the pitch hard, we were getting our rewards. Manchester did the same in the 2nd Innings. We were happy with that score at the halfway stage of the innings.
Just a win is really important. It's a 8-game tournament and you want to win these close encounters. Hopefully, it gives us some momentum going forward for our next game on Sunday."

1:47 AM IST, 9:17 PM local time: Southern Brave make it 2-0 over the Manchester Originals today. The Women's team mauled the hosts in the afternoon and now the Men shine under the gleam of the floodlights at the Old Trafford.
We understand if you're an Originals fan and feel disappointed right now. But most cricket fans would be beaming with joy after having witnessed that thriller. After such a rollercoaster of a contest, which went through several twists and bends, it is always hard to point out which moment actually turned out to be the turning point. So before pointing out the obvious ones, let us talk about the ones which might not steal the headlines.
The two Brave spinners — James Coles and Michael Bracewell — gave away only 30 runs off their 30 balls. Now remember, this is after the Originals had gone off to a great start. But in those middle overs, quietly, the twirlers tightened the noose. Then, came Tymal Mills and his big bag of variations. Not only did he make run scoring difficult, but even got the wickets of the big three — Buttler, Salt and Klaasen. That helped them keep the home side down to a lukewarm score of 131.
But the hosts fought back. Not on the back of the Andersons and the Noors, but on the back of young domestic players. Despite the errors they committed, Sonny Baker and Scott Currie impressed one and all, and were the prime reason why the Originals were in the game for long. No batter from the visiting team could cross 30 and hence, despite the modest target, they never quite found themselves in a position where we could say that "they are running away with it.". In the end, Craig Overton's 18* (8) balls proved to be the most vital knock of the night.
Of course, Phil Salt's half-century — the only one we saw tonight — deserves a mention. However, he would be the first to admit that he couldn't quite carry on with the momentum after having an excellent start.

4 FOURRRR!! What a cracking square cut by Reece Topley! He wins it for the Southern Brave. Stunned silence at Old Trafford. The left arm seamer is delighted with it after hitting it crisply. Short of a length delivery outside off, width offered. Topley throws the kitchen sink at it. No footwork whatsoever from Topley. He slashes hard and nails the square cut, past the right of diving backward point for a boundary. Happy scenes in the green corner as Southern Brave win their opening game by 1 wicket!
