That's it from our coverage for the 10th match of the Women's Premier League 2025. Ninaad Dixit here signing off on behalf of my co-commentator Deepak Prakash and scorer/analyst Paras Yadav. Stay tuned for more action from around the world.
Jess Jonassen (Player of the Match): "I loved it. Bit surprised by the opportunity but happy to take it. Bit of a luck early in the innings but it is part of the T20 game. Happy to be there at the end when Kappie hit the winning runs.

With the spinners particularly it held up in the surface. With the new ball it was swinging early. Tried to go as straight as possible.

I've always enjoyed my batting. Really pleased to have got the job done for the team tonight.

It's amazing. We have got all the bases covered. The way our seamers came back today. Bowled really well upfront. Marizanne Kapp - world class and showed that again. Titas Sadhu coming in for her first game this season taking a big wicket also. It's nice to be able to have a lot of different options. Meg will say sometimes too many options but it's nice to know that in any certain situation we have someone to put their hand up and do the job for the team."

Meg Lanning (Delhi Capitals Women Captain): "Yeah, this win was a bit less stressful than the first couple, and we bounced back really well. I thought our bowlers set it up beautifully—Kappy and Shikha did a great job up front, taking early wickets, which made things easier throughout the innings. So, yeah, pretty happy tonight.

There's been a little in it for the bowlers—if you hit a good length, there's some nibble off the wicket and a bit of swing. But overall, it's been a good contest between bat and ball. We've seen batters still manage to get going and dominate, but there’s definitely something there for the bowlers if they hit the right areas. It's all about improving with each game and tightening up those areas we haven't quite nailed yet.

In a tournament like this, momentum is key—once you get on a roll, it can make a big difference. It's a pretty close competition, which is exciting, but we need to keep winning. So, yeah, it was certainly nice to turn things around tonight.

(On Niki Prasad's fielding)
She's someone I now trust in the hot spots—wherever the ball goes, she's there. And she certainly hasn't let us down so far. It's really impressive for such a young player to step up and hold onto it. With the bat, it's about building partnerships, and I feel we've been improving. JJ has demonstrated just how capable she is with the bat."
Time for the post-match presentation......
Shafali Verma (Delhi Capitals Women): "It was difficult to bat in the first 3 overs as the ball was holding and shaping well. We tried to play along the floor. I wanted to stay there till the end and unfortunately couldn't get to my half century.

We have different mindsets. We hit the balls in our range. Taking our time to build the innings is important. We wanted to win by 10 wickets.

Marizanne Kapp and Shikha Pandey told us about the movements. The information helps us batters as well. It happened in the last game as well when the ball was holding off the surface a bit.

When there are short boundaries, you have to go for the big hits."
Ashleigh Gardner (Gujarat Giants Women Captain): "If you look at Delhi Capitals' bowling lineup, they have four international pacers, so it was always going to be a challenge in the powerplay. Losing three or four wickets early makes it very difficult to recover. I think they bowled exceptionally well, putting us under pressure right from the start. It was a disappointing loss tonight.

We know the potential they have, and we've seen it in the nets. They haven’t had many opportunities in the tournament so far, so it was great to see them make the most of it—though unfortunately, it came at the expense of us losing quite a few wickets. It was disappointing for our top order, but watching those girls come out and put together a 50-run partnership was fantastic. I’m sure it’s done their confidence a world of good.

It was a bit of a shock to see Jona (Jonassen) walk out, but she made the most of her opportunity at the top. She batted brilliantly, struck the ball well, and really capitalized on her chance. For us, it's about adapting quickly. We have a mix of inexperienced and experienced bowlers, so assessing conditions early is key. I thought Kashvee bowled brilliantly again tonight—she's shown her class and given a glimpse of where her career is headed, which is super exciting.

There's nothing to be overly concerned about, but if you look at our batting in the last two games, we've lost a bulk of wickets in the powerplay. As I said, that stalls all momentum. Losing three or more wickets early makes things really difficult and puts a lot of pressure on the middle order. When you're up against quality bowling attacks, the powerplay is always the toughest phase to bat in because you're facing the best.

For us, it's about taking on the internationals and ensuring we score the bulk of the runs at the top. That way, we can carry momentum into the middle and death overs—something we haven't managed in these last two games.
Hopefully, we can reflect on that. We have a quick turnaround before facing RCB in two days, so there's not much time. But if we look back at our first game against RCB, there were plenty of positives to take from that. And that score on a flat wicket definitely stays fresh in our minds."
