Player of the Match: Devdutt Padikkal
5:22 PM IST and Local Time | PHEW!! What an encounter we have had today at the Moti Bagh Stadium. Karnataka kept their nerve and won the match by 5 runs. They have advanced to the semi-final and Baroda got eliminated.

Karnataka opener Devdutt Padikkal started the innings on a high note with a few boundaries but the in-form opener Mayank Agarwal got out for 6. But Devdutt and KV Aneesh continued the innings. The duo registered 133 runs from 139 balls batting together. That partnership kept Karnataka in the game. Aneesh got out after scoring 52 off 64 balls. Devdutt Padikkal scored his 9th List A hundred and perished at 102. He faced 99 balls and decorated the stay with 15 fours and a couple of maximums.

After Devdutt and Aneesh departed in a quick succession, Karnataka lost the run flow. R Smaran scored 28 but took 41 balls. KL Shrijith was looking comfortable for his 28 but he also got out soon after Smaran's departure. Hardik Raj's wicket added salt in the wounds. Shreyas Gopal and Abhinav Manohar played a couple of quick and effective cameos and Prasidh Krishna scored run-a-ball 12 to help the score go to 281.

Raj Limbani shone with the ball as he took the important wickets of Padikkal, Aneesh and R Smaran. Atit Sheth took 3 wickets giving 41 runs away. Lukman Meriwala and skipper Krunal Pandya bagged a wicket each.

Coming to chase the run, Baroda lost Ninad Rathva cheaply for 14 but Shashwat Rawat and Atit Sheth kept their team well in the run chase. They registered a partnership of 99 runs. Atit Sheth contributed a fine 56 off 59 balls before his departure. Shashwat Rawat was then joined by skipper Krunal Pandya and the duo boarded runs quickly. Krunal got out as Shrijith took a spectacular catch when he was on 30. After Krunal's departure, Vishnu Solanki and Shivalik Sharma got out cheaply.

But Shashwat Rawat was playing his role very firmly and he reached his maiden List A hundred. He and Bhanu Pania were a tad slow in their partnership. Bhanu accelerated later to score 22 off 26 balls. After Bhanu's departure, Rawat became the victim of Prasidh Krishna on 104. Raj Limbani and Bhargav Bhatt took the charge when the team needed 35 from the final 3 overs. They took 15 from the 48th over bowled by Abhilash Shetty. That over yielded them the confidence but Vasuki Koushik shattered it with three consecutive dot balls in the penultimate over. He kept the equation down to 13 from 6 balls. In the last over Bhargav Bhatt and Raj Limbani got run out and Karnataka won it by 5 runs.

For Karnataka, Vasuki Koushik, Prasidh Krishna, Abhilash Shetty and Shreyas Gopal took a couple of wickets each.

Karnataka advances to the semi-final of the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024/25.
49.5 A Shetty to B Bhatt
1W A referral for run-out. Shetty bowls a fuller than length ball at the off stump. Bhatt swings his bat and it goes to widish long-on. The fielder throws it at the keeper's end and Bhatt had to scamper back for the second run. Replay shows that Bhatt's bat was just short of the crease when KL Shrijith took the bails off. Karnataka advances to the semi-final of the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024/25. WHAT A MATCH WE HAVE HAD!!!!! A nail-biter, a humdinger of an encounter- what ever you call it. Karnataka has kept the nerve and are the deserving winners.
