That's it from our coverage of a magnificent ICC WTC finals with the South African team coming on top in a topsy turvy encounter. A magnificent bowling performance in the first innings and then a strong batting display in the 2nd has helped the side overhaul the mighty Australians. Not to forget the wonderful WTC cycle the Proteas had that culminated into this moment.

Ninaad Dixit here signing off on behalf of my co-commentator Akshay Bhide, scorer/analyst Bishal Mandal and statistician Aman. Stay tuned for more action from around the world.

Temba Bavuma walks towards Jay Shah, the ICC Chairman, who hands him the Mace. He lifts it with his teammates as the fireworks go off. The celebrations begin as South Africa are the Champions.
Temba Bavuma (South Africa Captain): "It's been a special couple of days. At some point I felt like we were back in South Africa with all the support. We preapred hard for this and we've worked hard for this moment. We had a lot of belief but also a lot of doubters and we're happy that we were able to play well enough to get that type of result. Special moment for us as a team and for people back home. It will really sink in a couple of days but yeah, it's been special.

The energy was there. Us as a team we've been wanting this, knocking at the door, being relentless, getting ourselves in positions where we can be in finals. We've gone through the heartache and disappointment. That responsibility, we've been carrying it and hopefully this is one of many.

[On Rabada] KG is a magnificent player. Couple of days ago I went to the ICC Hall of fame and I think in a couple of years KG will be one of those guys. He came into the game with controversy behind him. He was motivated to do what he needed to do and like a champion he came and did what he did.

[On Markram] Unbelievable. Couple of months ago people were asking why Aiden is in the team and character is something that we look at and a guy like Aiden he carries all those traits. We knew in the 2nd innings we're gonna have to come out and play and he played it in true Aiden fashion. Again another massive player for us. Character has been a big thing for us as a team and those 2 guys are the ones who carry that.

Us as a team, we got ourselves in the final. We are happy to perform like this. As a country, here's an opportunity for us to as divided as we are at times to forget all of that and rejoice in this moment and just be one. I'm sure that people back home will be celebrating with us."
The South African players receive their championship medals now.
Pat Cummins (Australia Captain): "Yeah, things can change pretty quickly. But unfortunately, this was a bridge too far

There are always a few things. Having a decent first-innings lead, you want to bat the opposition out. Maybe we would have loved to play one more session to get us a decent total. They didn't give us the chance.

I think a bit of both. Again, it's wonderful two years. Boys worked really hard to get us here. It was tough batting when the ball was darting all around.

(On Starc-Hazlewood batting partnership) You were clapping each run. But at the same time, you know that the wicket was getting flat. Things can change quickly here but unfortunately, it didn't happen.

I think we gave every chance. Lyon bowled really well. He looked threatening and Aiden and Temba played beautifully.

South Africa showed why they are in the finals. All four days, they kept themselves in the game and whenever they got a sniff, they pounced on the opportunity. A big congratulations to South Africa.

Would have preferred The Oval (laughs). Test cricket is the pinnacle. You work hard for two years to get here. One-game shoot-off. But a great spectacle for everyone."
5:40 PM IST, 1:10 PM Local Time: The presentation kicks off with Stuart Broad bringing the Test mace and putting it on the pedestal. The match officials will now receive their medals. The Australian squad receive their respective medals.
