Somerset thump Essex to book yet another quarterfinals berth in the T20 Blast!
We hope you enjoyed the coverage as much as we did bringing it to you. The commentators were Darpan Tikiya and Pritam Dey. The scorer was Paras Yadav

Four more mouth-watering T20 Blast matches are lined up for tomorrow. Team Crex will ensure that you don't miss a beat from any of them. So, keep following! Goodbye for now. 👋
Lewis Gregory (Somerset Captain): "Yeah obviously it was a very good evening for us. I am really happy with the overall performance and happy to qualify and also get a home quarter-final.

(On the bowlers) It's obviously a tough job bowling here as it's a flat surface. Henry has been sensational for us throughout the season.

We are delighted to qualify for the knockouts. We will do everything we can in order to get a home quarter-final as we love playing over here."
Simon Harmer (Essex captain): "I don't think it was our finest fielding performance. We created chances but could not hold onto them. Then, with the bat, we just had to keep going. And it did not come off against a good bowling attack. We still want to put pride into our performances, but today it did not turn out that way."
Tom Kohler-Cadmore (Player of the Match): "Yeah, it was a wonderful pitch to bat on. I thank the ground staff to be honest.

Well, I try to keep it as simple as I can. As I said, it was a belter of a surface to bat on. The wind also helped me a lot.

(On Defending 226) We knew that they have some quality batters in their side but after they lost half of their side, we were pretty much confident to get over the line."

1:28 AM IST, 8:58 PM local time: Somerset win by 95 runs and qualify for the quarterfinals.

There are one-sided thrashings and then, there is that. Essex have been mauled in Taunton tonight. The only thing that went in their favour was the coin flip. They invited the hosts to make the first use of the pitch that is famous for being a batter's paradise and the rest, as they say, is history.

Somerset batted the way they do. The openers came out with an intent to go after the bowling and the rest followed. Tom Banton set the tone with a a flurry of gorgeous looking drives through the off side, before chipping one to mid-on.

Then came the show-stopper. Tom Kohler-Cadmore was brutal with his ball-striking tonight. Anything even remotely in his zone travelled the distance. On the other end, Will Smeed was treated like a son-in-law in an Indian household. He swung his bat like he knew that nobody would catch the ball. Essex dropped him bazillion times. By the time Allison finally managed to hold onto a chance, the damage was done.

Every batter came out wielding the long handle and barring Mohammad Amir, every bowler was carted around. The left arm seamer bowled a stupendous last over to keep the hosts down to 225/6.

Essex batters came out with the same intent. Flames of hope lit up too when Paul Walter smashed Craig Overton for two fours and a six in the first over. But Somerset pulled it back soon. Riley Meredith's express pace was instrumental in it. He broke the leg stump to send Michael Pepper packing and thus followed a procession. Noah Thain's 17-ball-38 was the only saving grace. Matt Henry starred with the ball as he ended with figures of 4/21
