For now, this is Saptak Sanyal signing off on behalf of the scorer/analyst Chandan Kumar Singh. Good night.
2:28 AM IST and 9:58 PM Local Time | Gloucestershire came out victorious in their away fixture against Essex and the latter continues to search for their first victory even after playing nine games in the competition so far.

Essex won the toss and sent the visitors to bat first. Miles Hammond started with a couple of boundaries in the very first over. But Mohammad Amir removed him for 15. Cameron Bancroft and D'Arcy Short then put up some runs on the board before the visitors lost a few wickets in clusters. Gloucester skipper Jack Taylor top scored with his 50-run knock and a crucial unbeaten 47 from Ben Charlesworth propelled the visitors to 184 for 7 at the end of their 20th over.

Mohammad Amir took 3 wickets for Essex. Barring him, the other three wickets taken by the bowlers were shared equally by Shane Snater, Paul Walter and Luc Benkenstein.

Essex came to bat with a huge task in their hand. Michael-Kyle Pepper started with a boundary and a maximum but became the victim of Josh Shaw. Jordan Cox then partnered the other opener Dean Elgar and Cox made the scoreboard moving. He hit 3 fours and 2 maximums on his way to score 25. But agonizingly, Dean Elgar could only face 9 balls out of which he scored just 5. He was there till the 9th over but his failure proved to be fatal for the Essex.

After Elgar's dismissal, Paul Walter and Luc Benkenstein added 35 runs on the board. Walter scored the majority of the runs as he got dismissed for 39 off 27 balls. The 42-run partnership between Matthew Critchey and Charlie Allison took Essex closer to the target. They took 21 runs off the 14th over to take the asking rate down to below 10. But Matthew Critchley's dismissal led them into dire straits. They lost Simon Harmer shortly after that. Charlie Allison and Noah Thain's dismissal took the equation down to 14 off the last over. Amir started his innings with a boundary but later failed to do the justice to his good start. Matt Taylor bowled three consecutive dots in the final over and in the third ball, Amir ran himself out as the final wicket of Essex.

Josh Shaw was spot-on with his execution and took 3 wickets for just 29 runs. Ben Charlesworth bowled only one over but in that, he removed two set batters in Paul Walter and Luc Benkenstein. David Payne, Matt Taylor, Oliver Price and Marchant de Lange took a wicket each.
