And this is it, the fixture between Derbyshire and Lancashire has come to an end. Samit Patel, captain of Derbyshire, won the toss and invited Lancashire to bat first. The openers started off on a frenzy, with both batters going all guns blazing in the powerplay. The openers notched up a century partnership and set the tone perfectly for the batters to follow. This was followed by a 50 runs partnership between Luke Well and Matthew Hurst and then a 60 runs partnership between Hurst and Liam Livingstone. This was followed by a collapse in the death overs, stopping Lancashire to a gigantic score of 243, and not allowing them to aim at 280. Lance Wells was the highest run scorer with 83 runs under his belt and Zak Chappell was the pick of the bowlers with his 2 wickets.

While chasing 244, the Derbyshire batters were off to a good start. Caleb Jewell and Aneurin Donald were taking on the bowlers against the new ball. But one wicket was needed to start an entire collapse. One wicket fell, followed by another and in no time, Derbyshire lost 6 wickets in a span of 16 runs. The scoreboard pressure was always on and all the batters were getting out looking to score runs faster. Caleb Jewell stood like a tank scoring 65 runs, along with some valuable contributions from Zak Chappell with his 15 balls 31 and Allah Ghazanfar with his 28 off 14. Derbyshire got bundled out for 163 runs. The pick of the bowlers for Lancashire was Chris Green for his 3 wicket haul giving away just 16 runs.

Looking at the points table, Lancashire with these 4 points, sits pretty on the points table, just one win away from the top. Whereas, Derbyshire, with the sixth loss of the season has a lot to think about.
