That concludes the first block of the T20 Blast 2025. Nottinghamshire thumped Northamptonshire by 24 runs to grab four crucial points. For now, it's me, Deepak Prakash, signing off on behalf of scorer/analyst Ghanendra Singh Thakur. CHEERS!
1:57 AM IST, 9:27 PM Local Time: A brilliant bowling performance from Nottinghamshire saw them successfully defend 164 and register a 24-run victory, ending the first block of the T20 Blast 2025 on a high note.

Earlier, Nottinghamshire won the toss and chose to bat first but got off to a shaky start, losing three wickets for just 50 runs by the ninth over. Joe Clarke (3) and Freddie McCann (8) fell cheaply, while Lyndon James (19) and Jack Haynes (32) took time to settle but couldn’t accelerate when required, both eventually falling and leaving their side in a spot of bother.

Tom Moores stood out as the lone warrior for the Outlaws, injecting much-needed momentum into the innings. The left-hander scored at a brisk pace, bringing up his fifty off just 26 balls. However, he couldn’t see the innings through and was eventually dismissed for 53.

The Outlaws continued to lose wickets at regular intervals, but a handy, unbeaten cameo of 12 from Calvin Harrison helped push the total past the 160-run mark.

Ben Sanderson, Luke Procter, and George Scrimshaw bagged a couple of wickets each for Northamptonshire, while David Willey and Lloyd Pope celebrated a solitary wicket.

In reply, Northamptonshire suffered an early setback as Matthew Breetzke was dismissed for just 2 runs in the third over. Ricardo Vasconcelos (18) and Justin Broad (16) found it difficult to time the ball, both departing with strike rates below 100, which left their side in a spot of bother.

Nottinghamshire’s bowlers maintained tight lines and lengths, not allowing the batters any freedom to score freely. David Willey showed some intent, striking a couple of sixes, but couldn’t sustain the momentum for long and was dismissed for 20.

Saif Zaib (37) shifted gears towards the end of the innings, but his dismissal at a crucial stage stalled the chase, and Northamptonshire were eventually bundled out for 140 in 19.2 overs, falling short by 24 runs.

Matthew Montgomery bagged three wickets for the Outlaws. Dillon Pennington, Daniel Sams, and Farhan Ahmed chipped in with a couple of wickets each, while Calvin Harrison contributed one wicket to the downfall.

W WICKET! Back-to-back wickets for Montgomery and Northamptonshire are skittled for 140 runs. Flighted delivery, fuller, around off. Scrimshaw charges down and looks to smash it over extra cover, but mistimes and finds the extra cover. Nottinghamshire win by 24 runs.
