2:17 AM IST & 9:47 PM Local Time: That's the end of the match! Somerset make it three wins in a row as they continue their dominant run in the T20 Blast 2025. Sussex, on the other hand, face their first defeat of the season. A clinical all-round performance by Somerset, chasing down 167 with ease — winning by 7 wickets and with 12 balls to spare.
Somerset won the toss and chose to bowl first, striking early to remove both Sussex openers and reducing them to 35/3 inside the Powerplay. John Simpson and Tom Alsop then steadied the innings with a vital 63-run stand for the fourth wicket. Alsop chipped in with a quick 23 off 13, while Simpson was the standout, scoring a composed 58 off 42 balls.
Somerset continued to pick up wickets at regular intervals, but Sussex found key boundaries late on. A 20-run push in the last two overs helped them finish with a competitive 166/8, with Matt Henry starring with the ball, claiming 3 for 29.
In reply, Somerset suffered an early blow as Will Smeed was bowled by Ollie Robinson, right after hitting him for two boundaries in the same over. However, Tom Lammonby and Tom Kohler-Cadmore took control with a match-defining 89-run partnership for the second wicket.
Lammonby contributed a handy 35 before falling to Jack Carson, but by then, the damage was done. TomKohler-Cadmore led the chase with a commanding 64 off 43 balls, laced with 7 fours and 3 sixes. Tom Abell (36* off 25) and Thomas Rew (17* off 14) ensured there were no further hiccups as they guided Somerset home with ease. The duo remained unbeaten, sealing the win with 12 balls to spare. Sussex, on the other hand, were below par with the bat and couldn't post a challenging total, which ultimately cost them the game.
