That is the end of the Quarter Finals of SMAT 2024. Baroda vs Mumbai in Semi Final 1 and Delhi vs MP in Semi Final 2. Both matches are in Bengaluru on Friday. Stay tuned with us for those coverages.

For now, this is me, AkshayaKrishna Polya, your text commentator, signing off on behalf of our scorer/analyst Zeeshan Naiyer and helping buddy Deepak Prakash, who brought you all the live action of this enthralling fixture. We will meet again. Until then, it's cheers!
Ayush Badoni (Delhi Captain): "Yeah, with our bowling lineup, I think 190 was enough. And we executed our plans well. I thought Anuj was batting really well, so I decided to give him singles and rotate the strike, letting him go for the big hits. And that plan worked out well.

I think the injuries to the pacers are a concern, but I believe they'll recover and be ready in two days. Hopefully, they’ll gel well and get back to full fitness."
Anuj Rawat (Player of the Match): "I knew it—if I stayed till the end, I could definitely capitalize on it. I also knew the wicket was really good for batting, so I focused on staying in the middle and making the most of it.

(On chat with Badoni)
No, he was regularly telling me, at frequent intervals, to just show intent, whether it was against the off-spinner or the medium pacer. That was the only discussion we were having out there."
Player of the Match: Anuj Rawat
Bhuvneshwar Kumar (Uttar Pradesh Captain): "I think 194 was a pretty chaseable score, considering the ground conditions. However, where we lost the match was in the first five wickets. I believe those fell within the first 10 overs, which really set us back. And now, if you look at the final score, we were just 20 runs short. After getting the first five wickets relatively easily, we should have capitalized better. So yeah, that’s where we lost the game.

Definitely. I mean, as a team, we’re going to have discussions before the one-day matches about what went wrong and what we can do better moving forward. There are definitely a few things we’ll address, but overall, there are plenty of positives to take from this tournament. Of course, we’ll also focus on working on the negatives to improve as a team.

(On
positives to carry from the T20 format into the One-Day format) Especially the bowling—it was pretty good throughout the tournament. The way we bowled as a unit was impressive. And as for Rinku, I don’t think I need to say much about him. He was absolutely special for us and made a huge impact."
8:04 PM IST and Local Time: DELHI ELIMINATE UTTAR PRADESH FROM THE SYED MUSHTAQ ALI TROPHY 2024! The Ayush Badoni-led side thrash UP by 19 runs in the second Quarter Final and sets the date with Madhya Pradesh in the second Semi Final of the competition on Friday!

Delhi were put into bat first by Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who swung the ball beautifully, but both the openers, Priyansh Arya and Yash Dhull, somehow managed to negotiate the new ball threat and slowly increase the scoring rate. They added 81 for the first wicket before UP got rid of both openers in a quick span in their respective 40s.

Ayush Badoni started well but soon watched his batting partner Anuj Rawat going berserk with a whirlwind half-century and helping the side finish on a high at 193/3 in 20 overs. Shivam Mavi was on the receiving end of the Rawat masterclass, who slammed a 33-ball 73*.

Apart from Priyam Garg and Sameer Rizvi, none of the top and middle order batters fired for UP in response as they lost wickets at regular intervals and were bundled for 174 in exactly 20 overs. Garg slammed a very good fifty, while Rizvi looked dangerous during his stay. Mohsin Khan and Bhuvi had some fun in the end overs but the game had already drifted away from UP's reach.

Price Yadav was the star of the show, picking up three important scalps, while Ayush Badoni, who had a spat with Nitish Rana in the first innings and got him dismissed later, and Suyash Sharma bagged a couple of wickets each. The rest of the Delhi attack entered the wickets list once.

Stay tuned for the post-match presentation...
