That's it from our coverage of the first quarter-final between Baroda and Bengal. Krunal Pandya's men were too hot to handle for Sudip Gharami's team as Bengal bowed out of the tournament after a 41-run hammering at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. Baroda are through to the semi-final and they will take on the winner of the Mumbai vs Vidarbha quarter-final.

For now, this is me Ajay Pal Singh signing off on behalf of my colleague Zeeshan Naiyer. Switch tabs to follow more action from across the cricketing world. Goodbye!!!
Krunal Pandya (Baroda Captain): "Yeah, worked hard for the last 3-4 months. Everyone wants to contribute. It is a work in progress, just want to do the right things.

We were put under pressure. Had a great start but then in between 5-6 overs, no runs were scored. Bhanu and Shivalik played well. Bowlers did well, it is a hard fought win. The boys made sure that they hit the right areas in the chase. Getting better never stops and we are on that path. Hope we continue doing that."
Lukman Meriwala (POTM): "Yes, I have taken over 100 wickets. It was important not to give room to the batters on this surface. If I don't give them boundaries and get wickets, the other team will get under pressure."

Sudip Gharami (Bengal Captain): "Yeah, have to give them credit. They played good cricket and have been consistent. In the powerplay, we lost 4 wickets, we lost the game there. From this game, the only positive is that we can't drop our shoulders till the last ball is bowled."

2:28 PM IST & Local Time: Baroda hammer Bengal by 41 runs to go through to the semis of Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024. It was a complete team performance from Krunal Pandya's men and they were too good on the day for Bengal, who had a forgettable outing with both bat and ball. The star players did not turn up for Bengal, Mohammed Shami was expensive with the ball and their key batters did not get going.

Earlier in the game, Baroda batted first and put on a competitive total of 172/7 from their 20 overs.

Sashwat Rawat and Abhimanyusingh Rajput put on a 90-run opening stand to set the tone for Baroda. They lost their way in the middle with Hadik and Krunal Pandya failing with the bat.

Shivalik Sharma and Bhanu Pania hit crucial runs down the order to take Baroda to 172/7.

In reply, Bengal got off the blocks quickly and had scored 22 off the first two overs. Lukman Meriwala then picked up three wickets off the fourth over to turn the game in Baroda's favour.

Bengal was always chasing the game after that over. Shahbaz Ahmed fought a lone battle, scoring 55 off 36 balls.

Hardik failed with the bat but picked up three wickets with the ball to contribute to Baroda's win. He finished with figures of 3 for 27.

Meriwala ended the game with figures of 3/17. Atit Sheth also bagged 3 wickets but gave away 41 runs from his four overs. Stay tuned for the post-match presentation..
