Dubai Capitals have buried the ghost of the previous season to claim the International League T20 Championship this edition! That is the end of another franchise league for the season and the end of our coverage from this match as well.
For now, this is me, AkshayaKrishna Polya, signing off on behalf of my co-commentator, Deepak Prakash, who, alongside our scorer/analyst Paras Yadav, brought you all the live-action of this blockbuster finale. We will meet again. Until then, it's cheers!
Sam Billings collects the TROPHY on the podium. The rest of the players who were waiting to celebrate join the Capitals' skipper, and the party begins along with the fireworks. The team owners join them as well.
Sam Billings (Dubai Capitals Captain): "Phenomenal. What a game of cricket. Only a few of us could watch it from the dressing room, but yeah, both teams played some really good cricket throughout the tournament. Thankfully, the job was done by the guys. A couple of guys played incredible knocks to get us over the line when the game was almost done.
It was a phenomenal team effort. I thought, again, we did a lot of really good stuff. I thought Max Holden had shown his class and played beautifully, put us under early pressure, and then, obviously, the guys towards the back end, especially Sam Curran, the way he's playing at the moment, is one of the best players in the world, I believe.
We knew they would put us under pressure at different points and look. You can always overanalyze it, but sometimes you can say some really good batting allowed us kind of to make those mistakes.
It was pretty much a carbon copy of both teams and quality striking. Two quality teams, and it had to go down to the wire. To have the quality of someone like Sikandar Raza at number 7, Scott Kuggeleijn at number 8 and even Qais Ahmad at 9, who, too, can strike it.
There were a lot of conversations in the team meeting, and having bowling and batting options gave us a lot of flexibility. How we wanted to balance our side out, having kind of bowling options also in your top seven batting options gives me a lot of flexibility as a captain. Really nice, balanced side.
A massive moment for the owners. We had a dinner meet-up a few days ago with Kiran and Richa. They are so good. Always involved with the matches but never interrupt with the team. 17 years waiting, and this is their first trophy. Two great human beings. Got my first opportunity in the IPL in 2015 with the franchise. Two nice, genuine people who are very calm. They deserve it more than anyone. A lot of players here have played for them.
Raza is a quality cricketer. He is a three-dimensional player. When you win a tournament, it is not down to one person, but it is down to the squad. High-pressure moments, and to do it in a final is such a big thing. It's down to a huge squad and the senior players stepping up at different times, as he showed tonight. That's why he's such a big signing all around the world. Yeah, high-pressure moments come in, and playing that knock is pretty special. So huge credit to him.
I think I moved it a little bit later, so the babysitter Jerry's down there. Hopefully, we'll have a good party tonight and enjoy it, because obviously, this is why you play the game
The popularity of the tournament has grown over the last three years, and that's why you play in the big finals. Winning trophies is what it's all about, so very, very special. It's a brilliant facility.
I have played a lot of cricket here. This venue is great; when it is packed, it is as loud as it gets. To see a packed house tonight and to give them a worthy final was fantastic. Keep growing the game of cricket. So many people love it. So, to see a packed house tonight and to give them a game that was worthy of it was great."

Sam Curran (MVP and Desert Vipers Captain): "I am reasonably flat right now. Not really celebrating the award. It was a fantastic game and a small accolade. It probably is tough to take when you lose a tournament like that.
But yeah, I thoroughly enjoyed my season with the Vipers; it is probably one of my favourite seasons I've had in franchise Cricket. It's a thoroughly professional setup, and hopefully, we will go one better next year.
It's about a game where they probably came to the Vipers. There's a lot of coaching stuff there, and people I knew and real clarity and stuff like that. It's been really exciting, and just taking on those roles in the middle order, with the Bat and being adapted with the balls. So, I guess it is a thoroughly enjoyable season.
Dubai Capitals won a few matches over us in the group stage. We felt really confident. We had a great win in Sharjah the other evening. I thought we had a really good score on the board. And you can look into so many different ways, which we're probably slightly going wrong, but I'm incredibly proud of everyone, the team, the coaching staff, and everyone. So, I guess, congrats to the Capitals.
I guess it's just the consistency. Obviously, I came for a couple of games last season, and it's just the professionalism and the family feel towards it, and obviously, you can see down there. There are so many families involved in the whole group. We must be really proud of ourselves and hope to go one better next year."
