So that’s it from this game. Gulf Giants needed this win to stay alive, and they got exactly what they needed, as they won this game pretty comprehensively in the end. For the Knight Riders, they now need to win their last game. Meanwhile, MI Emirates have now officially qualified for the playoffs. So with just three games to go, we still have two play-offs spots up for grabs. The last two days of the league stage are going to be super exciting. Do join us for that.
For now this is Sumeet Mate, Gourav & our scorer/analyst Zeeshan Naiyer taking your leave. GOOD BYE!!!GOOD NIGHT!!
Daniel Worrall (Player of the Match)- “It was good to open the bowling with Mark Adair. We kept bowling in the right line and length which helped us to keep the opponent away from scoring quick runs. Yeah we have one more match in the league stage. Hopefully we win it as well.”
Player of the Match- Daniel Worrall
James Vince (Gulf Giants Captain)- All we can do is control the controllables. We are still alive and now we will wait for some results to go our way. I think we misread the pitch a bit, as we thought it looked a good wicket, but yeah in the end happy with the win. I think important thing for us was to try and put pressure back on the Knight Riders as we lost two early wickets and it worked as Tom Curran & Erasmus stitched a lovely partnership.
Yes it’s been a good campaign and we are still hopeful for results to go our way and make it to the playoffs.
Sunil Narine (Abu Dhabi Knight Riders Captain)- “We couldn’t add runs at the start of the first innings. Even the runs on the board were not enough to defend it easily. We still have a game left in the tournament in the league stage. We will look to take a win from it and wait for what happens after it on the points table.”
Dispatch of the Day- Gerhard Erasmus
Time for Post-Match Presentation.
11:00 PM IST & 9:30 PM LOCAL TIME : So the Gulf Giants win this encounter pretty comfortably in the end, as they romp home with 2 overs to spare.
This was always a tough total to defend but the Knight Riders bowlers put in a decent effort to drag this chase till 18th over. After 2 early wickets there was a good partnership between Tom Curran and Gerhard Erasmus as the duo put on 69 runs stand battling their way through on this tricky wicket. Defending such low totals, the only way to win for the Knight Riders was to take wickets at regular intervals and their bowlers failed to do so.
Earlier in the day, a superb bowling display from the Giants pacers restricted the Knight Riders to a very small total of 123, as the Giants Pacers kept on striking at regular intervals. Their opening pace duo of Mark Adair and Daniel Worrall set the tone as they picked up 3 wickets inside the powerplay. After that Muzarabani and Jordan kept the pressure going as the Knight Riders were 94/7 at one point. A late blitz from Sharafu and Narine pushed the Knight Riders total to 123.
