That's we all have for the coverage of the match between Sharjah Warriorz and Desert Vipers. Stay tuned for the cricketing action across the globe.
For now this is me Aditya Agarwal, signing off on behalf of Sourabh Agarwal and Sumeet Mate, alongside scorer/analyst Yogesh Kumar. BYE, CHEERS!!
Khuzaima Tanveer (Player Of The Match): "Whenever I played domestic cricket, I try to enjoy the game, same here as well, no pressure.
The captain told me to hit the top of the stumps, that was the key point.
Towards the end, it was helping a bit with the reverse. I was sticking to what the captain and Fakhar bhai told me.
We have played 7 matches and 3 matches remaining, enjoying it."
Player of the Match: Khuzaima Tanveer
Sam Curran (Desert Vipers Captain):"It's always nice to win. We bowled really well. What a day for the debutant, Khuzaima as he picked up 4 wickets. They batted really well till the 15th over but then our Pacers and especially, Khuzaima Tanveer, brought us back into the game.
That's the great thing about our Team, everyone has stood up at different times. Nice to be batting around an Englishmen. We are still not sure when he(Lockie) will be back, but fingers crossed, he will be back soon."
Tim Southee (Sharjah Warriorz Captain) : "Yeah to be honest, the mid way to the innings we were well in the game. We have shown glimpses, but haven't been strong together enough. The equation is simple from here as we have four games left and we need to win 4 matches.
The wicket was a bit tricky. It was tough in the first few overs. Once the two guys got in, they put the foot down and had a match-winning partnership."
Dispatch of the Day - Alex Hales
Time for the post-match presentations.
5:10 PM Local Time, 6:40 PM IST: Desert Vipers get it done in a canter and become the first team to qualify for the playoffs in ILT20 Season 3.
This has been an absolute hammering from the table-toppers who have taken this match from the scruff of its neck and have ran away with proceedings to register a thumping win over the Warriorz who have slumped to their fourth defeat in six games.
The target of 152 did look under-par at the halfway stage but the Kiwi duo of Southee and Milne who opened the bowling for the Warriorz made things interesting with some swing and seam with the new ball. Both the pacers hit some good areas and got the ball to move around and the Vipers' openers could not get them away and got stuck.
The runs were hard to come in the first few overs and soon Milne reaped the rewards with two wickets in an over as he dismissed Fakhar and Lawrence reducing Vipers to 24/2 in 4 overs. Little did they know that those were going to be the only wickets to fall throughout the innings.
Two Englishmen, Hales and Curran got together and made sure that there were no further hiccups in the run chase. They steadied the ship with some calculated batting to begin with milking the bowlers around and built up the partnership as both the batters got their eyes in.
The Warriorz well still in the match with Vipers needing 61 off the last 8 overs but then the batters went into overdrive and absolutely raced away. They shifted the gears in dramatic fashion and hit some big hits as both the batters got to their fifties and Vipers got the remaining 61 runs in a mere 2.5 overs taking apart each and every bowler that came their way.
Earlier in the innings, Warriorz got restricted to a sub-par effort as debutant Khuzaima Tanveer led the bowling attack for the Vipers with 4 wickets to his name.
Roy scored a nice fifty and Tom-Kohler Cadmore was the only other batter for the Warriorz who made a significant contribution as the bowlers hit the hard lengths and made the batters struggle on a pitch that was a bit tacky in the afternoon and was exploited well by the likes of Payne, Amir, Curran and Tanveer, the pacers of Vipers.
