Milestone
That's all from this one-sided contest, folks! Desert Vipers extend their winning streak to four matches, and they are yet to lose a match in this ILT20. For now, this is Deepak Prakash signing off on behalf of scorer/analyst Paras Yadav. CHEERS!
Luke Wood (Player of the Match): "I don’t think I’ve ever won a Player of the Match award for fielding. I was just trying to get under those catches and replicate what I do in practice. Luckily, Payne was there to complete that (Russell) catch."
Player of the Match: Luke Wood
Sam Curran (Desert Vipers Captain): "I thought our batting was good. The spinners bowled really well, it was impressive. The breeze was favoring the shorter side, and they just kept coming at us—they have such a strong batting lineup.

There’s a strong sense of familiarity with both the coaches and players, and there’s a great team culture that makes it enjoyable to be a part of. The boys are here for most of the season, so we don’t want to get complacent. We’ve got a day off, and we’ll be back on Monday."
Sunil Narine (Abu Dhabi Knight Riders captain): "I think we could have bowled better. It was a good wicket, and we have confidence in our batters to chase down that total any day. As a batting side, you always look to capitalize on the shorter boundaries.

They batted well, though. We were in a strong position until we lost 3-4 wickets in the space of just a couple of overs, which inevitably put us on the back foot."
Dispatch of the Day: Daniel Lawrence
Time for the post-match presentation...
6:51 PM IST, 5:21 PM Local Time: Poor batting display from Abu Dhabi Knight Riders and they are folded for 140 runs in the 18th over of the innings. Desert Vipers win by 53 runs and extend their winning streak to four matches.

Earlier, after opting to bat first, Desert Vipers started cautiously on a slightly slower wicket with their openers Fakhar Zaman and Alex Hales adding 34 runs for the first wicket. Fakhar failed to bat for a long and departed for just 11 runs, while Hales switched gears and delivered 58 runs off just 36 balls before falling prey to David Willey.

Daniel Lawrence and Sam Curran paired up in the middle and relied on singles and doubles to keep the scoreboard moving. Lawrence switched gears as the innings progressed but fell just one short of his well-deserved fifty. Curran looked cautious and only pounced on the looseners but when it came time to shift gears he departed for 29-ball 35 runs.

Azam Khan contributed with a  9-ball 21 runs cameo and propelled the Vipers to over 190 runs in 20 overs.

Jason Holder shone with the ball for Knight Riders, claiming 2 wickets. David Willey and Kyle Mayers chipped in with one wicket each.

In pursuit of a hefty 193 runs, Abu Dhabi Knight Riders lost Philip Salt for a mere 2 runs in the opening over of the innings, with Mohammad Amir drawing the first blood for the Vipers. Joe Clarke scored rapidly from the outset and put the batting back on track but Mayers on the other end, looked sluggish and departed for 21 runs off 20 balls.

Clarke brought up his fifty, but his innings came to an unfortunate end when a straight drive from Narine deflected off the bowler's hand onto the stumps at the non-striker's end, leaving him short of his crease and run-out. The wicket of Clarke triggered a collapse for the Knight Riders as they fell like nine pins and were bundled out for 140 runs in 17.4 overs. The key batters Andre Russell (6), Charith Asalanka (5), and Laurie Evans (1) were restricted in single digits.

Nathan Sowter shone with the ball for the Vipers, claiming three wickets. Wanindu Hasaranga bagged a couple of wickets, while Mohammad Amir, Dhruv Parashar, and Daniel Lawrence contributed one wicket to the downfall.

Stay tuned for the presentation.....
