Milestone
That is all from the action here with ADKR getting their first win of the season. Time for me (Sourabh Agrawal) to sign off on behalf of my co-commentator Saptak Sanyal and scorer Zeeshan Naiyer. Good night!
David Willey (Player of the Match): "Ya look I always search for early wickets with the new ball. The ball was doing a bit. I bowled Jason wide and he hit it straight to cover.

Generally the scoreboard dictates how you have to bowl. I just tried to go as per the requirements. I swing the ball. I have made a career with that. I was never a quick one and I bowled to my strength."
Player of the Match: David Willey
Sunil Narine (Abu Dhabi Knight Riders Captain): "It is easier batting second, it is tough when the lights just kicking in, tough batting in the first 6 overs but we did well not losing too many wickets. If you have set guys, you can always have a big total.

He (Evans) did a good job, built up a couple of key partnerships.

The seamers were doing a good job in the powerplay, picked up wickets in the powerplay and also the ball was doing a bit so I pushed myself back."
Tim Southee (Sharjah Warriorz Captain): "It's a tricky one but I think we needed a couple of partnerships. Still it is an early stage of the tournament.

Yes, we have played 70 dot balls but got a few boundaries and that compensated a bit. Yes we have to minimize that. I can say that having a few good partnerships would have helped us."
Dispatch of the Day: Andre Russell
Time for the post-match presentations.
10:01 PM Local Time, 11:31 PM IST: Abu Dhabi Knight Riders get a convincing win over the Sharjah Warriorz by 30 runs and they brush aside the (lack of) challenge posed by the Tim Southee-led unit.

ADKR also open their account in the points table with their first win jumping up to number 3 right from the bottom while this win sees the Sharjah Waariorz slip to number 5.

ADKR were put into bat and they put up a competitive 159 on the board on the back of contributions from Mayers and Clarke at the top plus Sharafu and Evans in the middle and a Russell blitz in the end.

It was a lovely spell from Milne with the new ball for the Warriorz right at the start and then Adil Rashid weaved his magic through the middle picking up a couple of wickets as the Warriorz' unit did not really let the batters breakthrough except the Russell knock in the end.

It was set up to be an exciting run chase but the Sharjah batters simply could not get going at all. Willey broke the back of the run chase right at the start dismissing TKC for a duck and then Roy cheaply in his first two overs.

Holder joined in too soon as the Knight Riders kept taking wickets throughout the innings, the batters struggled right through and there was simply no momentum in the innings.

Holder finished with 4 to his name while Willey got 3 and the rest of the bowlers kept things tight too. Southee used the long handle in the end and reduced the margin by quite a few but other than that it was a pretty poor effort with the bat for the Warriorz and a pretty clinical one from the Knight Riders.
