That brings an end to our coverage of this game. Keep joining us for more cricketing action all around the globe. This is Akshay Bhide, signing off, on behalf of my co-commentator Arijit Kundu and scorer Sahil Khan. Until next time, cheers and good bye.
Charlie Barnard (Lancashire Lightning): "Brilliant. Was nervous getting into it but I got going after that first over. It was good and to get that last over was also good. It was good to get the win.
If you had told me five years ago that I would play a Vitality game, I wouldn’t believe you. It’s good to learn from Keaton Jennings. He makes me feel comfortable. It’s good to be a part of some history. It’s great to be a part of this team.
We started well and finished well. Hopefully, I wasn’t expecting to play in this comp. The opportunity opened and hopefully, I’ll keep playing."
11:20 PM IST and 6:50 PM Local Time: A total team effort from Lancashire Lightning as they emerge on top with a deficit of 47 runs between the two teams. They make it back-to-back wins in the T20 Blast 2025.
Chasing a hefty total, Nottinghamshire got off to a tough start as Thomas Aspinwall enforced a couple of wickets in the third over, packing the openers. This is when Moises Henriques and Jack Haynes stepped up with the bat, aggregating 61 runs for the third-wicket together. Liam Patterson-White managed to break the stand in the ninth wicket, curbing the Outlaws to 92/3 at the halfway mark.
Subsequently, Tom Moores accompanied Henriques as the pair tried to eclipse the bowling brilliance in the middle overs. Just when Moores seemed well set, he threw his wicket away. This led to a flurry of wickets in the following overs with Charlie Barnard, Chris Green, and Aspinwall being the prime wicket-takers. The Outlaws' lower-order rushed for runs with the required rate mounting. As a result, they lost plenty of wickets with the score reflecting 152/8 at the start of the 17th over. Eventually, they were folded for 169 with Jack Blatherwick picking up a solitary piece to earn a 47-run victory and gain two victories.
Earlier, Keaton Jennings, the Lancashire skipper, won the toss and elected to bat first. He backed his decision by launching a great start inside the field restrictions, racking up 59 runs in the phase with Luke Wells. The pair orchestrated a gigantic partnership as the opposition bowlers were taken to the cleaners. A 177 runs partnership radiated records on the day as Wells smashed a 50-ball 85 while Jennings fell short of a ton by mere five runs. With 195/2 in 17.4 overs, the ball seemed to be gripping at the fag end of the innings. But their middle order has enough firepower to get 216 runs on the board for the loss of three wickets.
Blatherwick enters the wickets column and puts an end to this fixture. A convincing victory for Lancashire Lightning by 47 runs to make it two in two in this year's competition.
