What a thriller we’ve just witnessed in the T20 Blast 2025, as Nottinghamshire pulled off a sensational run chase to defeat Warwickshire and register a truly memorable win!
Warwickshire, after being put in to bat, recovered well from early setbacks to post a mammoth 226/4. Skipper Alex Davies led from the front with a brisk 40 off 22, setting the tone up top. The middle overs belonged to Ed Barnard, who smashed 55 off 28, and Sam Hain, who anchored the innings brilliantly with a masterful 92 not out*, steering his side to a commanding total.
Nottinghamshire’s bowlers started well but were put under pressure as the innings progressed. Daniel Sams was the standout, picking up 2 wickets, but overall, their bowling effort lacked control in the middle and death overs.
Chasing 227, Nottinghamshire came out firing. Skipper Joe Clarke lit up the powerplay with a blazing 58 off just 23 balls, laying the perfect platform. The hero of the night, though, was Jack Haynes, who delivered a stunning match-winning performance—89 off 41 balls*—and stayed till the end to see his side home. He was well supported by the experienced Moises Henriques, who added a calm 34 off 27.
Warwickshire’s bowling, in contrast to their batting, let them down when it mattered. They struggled with line and length under pressure, leaking runs at crucial moments. Danny Briggs was the best of the lot, returning figures of 2/42.
In the end, Nottinghamshire chased down 227 in style, pulling off one of the most remarkable victories of the season.
An absolute run-fest and a game to remember! Stay tuned for more action from the T20 Blast 2025!
