Time to wrap up our coverage from the 20th match of ongoing BPL between Rangpur Riders and Khulna Tigers. Rangpur Riders have kept their nerve and went on to win the match by 8 runs.
For now, this is Saptak Sanyal signing off on behalf of my co-commentator Deepak Prakash and our scorer/analyst Ghanendra Singh Thakur. Good night.
Player of the Match: Akif Javed
Mehidy Hasan Miraz (Khulna Tigers Captain):"Definitely I was disappointed. We had to win. We needed 22 from 3 overs. I don't know what the batters were thinking there.
The first six overs we did very well. Next four overs we didn't get much boundaries. Naim batted well. It can happen in cricket. Any situation might come. We hope we learn quickly from these matches and go forward."
9:56 PM IST and 10:26 PM Local Time | Rangpur Riders have kept their nerves and won the humdinger of an encounter against the Khulna Tigers by 8 runs.
Rangpur Riders decided to bat first winning the toss but lost two of their top order batters cheaply in Steven Taylor and Saif Hassan. But Tawfique Khan and Iftikhar Ahmed played watchfully in the middle over phase when going seemed to be a tougher one. Tawfique played a good anchoring knock of 36 runs off 30 balls. But the game turned to Rangpur's way when Khushdil Shah joined the crease. He hit Nasum for four sixes in an over and continued the momentum thoroughly. He scored 73 runs from 35 balls with 4 fours and 6 maximums. Iftikhar got out in the penultimate ball of the innings but scored a fine 43 off 36 balls.
For Khulna Tigers, Abu Hider and Hasan Mahmud took two wickets each.
Coming to the run chase, Khulna Tigers lost Darwish Rasooli early but Mohammad Naim and skipper Mehidy Hasan Miraz gave their team some handy runs in the powerplay. Miraz scored 39 runs from 24 balls with 3 fours and 2 maximums. Then Naim was joined by Afif Hossain and two southpaws continued the good going. Naim reached his fifth BPL fifty. He got out for 58 off 41 balls with 7 fours and 2 maximums.
At a point, Khulna Tigers needed 22 runs from 3 overs but then they started losing wickets. Akif Javed and Saifuddin were spot on with their bowling and restricted the batters and they gave just 13 runs away from then to secure a victory.
For the Rangpur-based franchise, Akif Javed was the star of the show picking up 3 wickets. Mahedi Hasan and Mohammad Saifuddin took two wickets each.

1 Full length delivery at the off stump. Irshad lofts it but it lands short of Steven Taylor at long-on. Single taken. Rangpur takes the game away by 8 runs. What a win. Rangpur once again cracks a victory from the jaw of defeat.
