Anamul Haque (Durbar Rajshahi Captain): "Pleased with this win. Momentum is very crucial in a tournament like BBL. I am happy with this victory after losing the last two matches.
Ryan Burl batted really very well, Yasir Ali has been batting exceptionally well throughout the tournament, and Akbar played a terrific knock today. They did wonders for us.
I told my boys before this game to work on a few things, and this is a defendable total if you bowl well. Thanks to the junior bowlers, Jishan Ali and Meherob Hasan. The experienced bowlers also raised their hands as Sohag bowled really well and Taskin continued his merry way.
We did win today, but we need work onwards to continue having this momentum. Thanks!"
Ryan Burl (Player of the Match): "Definitely, it is pleasing to contribute with both bat and ball. I came in a tricky phase, but the partnership with Yasir Ali proved to be a crucial one for us.
Yeah, Akbar Ali did well for us down the order. But doing that gets easier when you have wickets in hand. I won't say we had above-par total, but we were at par. Bowlers did well as the wickets was tricky and taking the pace off was important. Always enjoy my stay in Sylhet."
Player of the Match: Ryan Burl
Time for the post-match presentation!
Mehidy Hasan Miraz (Khulna Tigers Captain): "This is the first match we've lost, and there are many more to come in this tournament. We didn’t perform well during the powerplay. The wicket was good, and the bowlers performed really well, but our batters made a few mistakes, and that ultimately cost us the game."
5:01 PM IST and 5:31 PM Local Time | A clinical victory for Durbar Rajshahi as they beat the Khulna Tigers by a fine margin of 28 runs.
The former have bagged their second victory of the season, while it's the first defeat of the season for the latter side.
Defending a score of 179 runs, the Rajshahi came out with a plan, and the plan was to give pace to the batters. Skipper Anamul Haque rotated his bowlers brilliantly, starting from the powerplay itself.
Jishan Alam and Taskin Ahmed bowled really well in tandem with the new ball, getting wickets of William Bosisto and Mohammad Naim respectively. And as Alam was bowling like a charm with the ball, the Durbur skipper decided to bowl out Jishan Alam (1 for 18) in the first seven overs of the chase itself.
The Rajshahi then slowed the game by bowling spin from both ends. Even the likes of Naim and Afif Hossain could bail the team out from them. All spinners - Jishan, SM Meherob Hasan, Sohag Gazi and Ryan Burl - bowled exceptionally as they gave away 83 runs during 13 overs between the four bowlers to snap a total of six wickets.
The Khulna lower order tried taking on the faster bowlers but it turned out to be too little, too late for them. They could only reduce the losing margin as Durbar stayed two steps ahead of them throughout the day.
