That marks the end of our coverage from the BPL game between Dhaka Capitals and Chittagong Kings. Chittagong Kings have chased the 178-run target with 3 balls remaining and are the deserving winners.
I am Saptak Sanyal, signing off on behalf of my co-commentator Deepak Prakash and our scorer/analyst Raju Khariya. Good night.
Mohammad Mithun (Chittagong Kings):"We are starting very well. After the first 10 overs, Sabbir batted very well. If our bowlers do better in execution, we will do well.
We talk in the dressing room that is you can bat with the momentum for the entire 20 overs, we are in a good position. We have a good variety in the side. A good slogger, hard hitting openers keep us ahead.
We look forward to the next game."
Khaled Ahmed (Player of the Match):"I enjoyed very much. I enjoy very much playing in this ground. I was told by the captain to be ready to bowl in the powerplay, so I was ready and bowled in my lines."
Player of the Match: Khaled Ahmed
Thisara Perera (Dhaka Capitals Captain): "First and foremost, we desperately need a win at this stage, which is why we are trying everything. We didn't execute our batting plans in the first 10 overs but Sabbir played really well in the latter half which helped us post a decent total on the board. We had a few wickets in hand and should have scored at least 190."
9:36 PM IST and 10:06 PM Local Time | Chittagong Kings have kept their nerves and have registered a comfortable victory over the Dhaka Capitals by 7 wickets and with 3 balls to go.
Dhaka Capitals was sent to bat first and they lost Jason Roy cheaply. Tanzid Hasan was watchful and he carried the innings forward. He lost Stephen Eskinazi and Shahadat Hossain Dipu but his battle continued with Sabbir Rahman beside him. Tanzid got his fifty and departed for 52.
After getting the time to settle in the crease, Sabbir went hammer and tongs at the Chittagong bowlers. He smashed sixes for fun and escalated the run rate. At one point, the Capitals were going below run a ball but Sabbir's innings was instrumental for them to post 177 on the board. Sabbir remained unbeaten on 82 off 33 balls with 3 fours and 9 maximums.
For the Chittagong Kings, Khaled Ahmed took 3 wickets for 21 runs. Aliss Al Islam and Mohammad Wasim chipped in with a wicket each.
Coming to chase the run, Chittagong Kings started with a boundary. But Parvez Hossain Emon didn't impress today as he got out for 17 off 16 balls. But the other opener Usman Khan scored runs at a brisk pace. He and Graham Clark together added quick runs and the latter remained as an anchor.
Usman Khan scored 55 from 33 balls hitting 7 fours and 3 sixes. Graham Clark switched gears once Thisara Perera introduced himself in the attack. He and his skipper Mohammad Mithun got the innings forward. They added 38 runs off 33 balls for the third wicket. But Mosaddek Hossain got better of Graham Clark and the equation came down to 33 from the last 3 overs. Mustafizur came to bowl the 18th over and conceded 10 runs.
When 23 runs were required from the final two overs, Thisara Perera handed the ball to Mosaddek Hossain as he bowled well in the middle overs. But he found his negative match-up Shamim Hossain, who smacked him for fun. 18 came from that over and that reduced the equation to 5 runs from 6 balls and Chittagong Kings won it comfortably.
Shamim Hossain Patwari remained unbeaten on 30 off 14 balls and his cameo at the death overs once again proved to be a beneficial one for his team. Mohammad Mithun remained unbeaten on 33 off 22 balls.
For the Dhaka Capitals, Mustafizur Rahman, Farmanullah Safi and Mosaddek Hossain took a wicket each.
Stay tuned for the post-match presentation.
